If a tree fell in the woods ... it was probably Barry Soskin trying to dig up another ownership group for the Mentor market so his teams could have another patsy to play.
If a gun shop owner needed a tax write-off, is a hockey league the best way to do it?

It would seem all the Mississippi players who (rightly) refused to make the trip in vans or in their own cars during a state of emergency have been suspended by the FPHL.

Even at its worst, the SPHL has never pulled shenanigans like this. Absolutely ridiculous.

If a "Prospects League" has a season going on, but there are no real prospects in the league, is it really a prospects league?
There are prospects. They just all get plucked from Delaware to the other teams.

"Truly elite players" don't play in five letter leagues.
You're right.

They play in six letter leagues!

Would seem to be the Mississippi at Carolina game on Friday - Stats - Federal Prospects Hockey League. Mississippi roster for the game listed as 9 skaters and 2 goalies.

The 700+ mile, 10 1/2 hour trip from Biloxi to Winston-Salem for a one-game trip to begin with, especially the day before Christmas Eve, is a totally different discussion.

Mississippi picked a few local guys for that game too. One was a piss poor former ACHA D3 player. If I was a Carolina season ticket holder, I would have asked for my money back.

That they suspended players at all for (rightly) refusing to drive 11 hours to a game in a rental van driven by another player or staff member because the skinflint owners wouldn't get a bus is ridiculous. This isn't saner heads prevailing, this is merely idiocy being reduced to stupidity.

Not even random owners, both Carolina and Mississippi are owned by Barry Soskin

That actually makes more sense, it's obviously a punitive suspension for the players daring to "embarrass" FHL owner-in-chief Soskin by dimishing his on-ice product.

"Elite" was used relative to other minor pro leagues (FPHL, LNAH, SPHL, other Europe leagues). Not the NHL/AHL. the 5 letter league thing is only in the states like most of your (lets be honest) garbage pay to play leagues (NA3HL etc etc)... in Canada there's multiple "5 letter leagues" in junior hockey that produce NCAA and OHL/CHL players on a regular basis... GOJHL, NOJHL, MJAHL... Just to name a few.. Hell even PJCHL guys are going D3 these days. The leading scorer in DEL2 (Germany) from a few years ago is currently playing WOSHL...

That's where the OP's "or former elite players" caveat kicks in to save the day.
how many guys in the FED actually have OHL or NCAA experience? likely almost none... this league has probably 15-25 spread across 9 teams... big difference...

Also taking a quick look at the FPHL point leaders kinda proves my points... Khalib Ford wouldnt dominant as much as he is in this canadian league, how do I know that? because he played in it. Also no teams show up with 9 guys for a quote "professional hockey league game"

You'll never see me calling the Fed a "professional hockey league."

You won't see the Fed calling themselves "professional" either. That's what got them in trouble before.
No, failure to establish proper insurance for their players is what got them in trouble before. The "name change" was an attempt at a legal sleight of hand that Moje's attorneys should have appealed rather than let a bad trial court ruling stand and allow the Fed clowns to screw their client.

You should have taken his appeal. You'd be HFBoards famous now.

Said it before and will say it again: In English football there are 8 levels on the pyramid. When you get to 6 or 7 ( EG:Macclesfield FC, FCUM) the players are generally part timers and if you are at this level you aren't going to end up playing in the PL or Championship and very few will ever play a match for a League 2 side (4th division and lowest in the league setup). That is what the FPHL is. It's a collection of places that for whatever reason couldn't have a team in the E or even SPHL and this allows them to have a team for people in those places to watch live hockey like the formentioned low level English clubs. It is what it is.

They don't play football in England. They play soccer.

Ever heard of Jamie Vardy?.... Also it's not comparable at all. theres been a quite a few guys from the ECHL and a few from the SPHL that have made it too the NHL. and guys jump from the Fed and SPHL on a regular basis.

wasnt there like 2 ''non league'' team in the FA cup semi final 2/3 years ago?

this is a stretch at best, I wouldnt compare hockey and english football anyways.

It's also a lot easier to be a part timer when you play 1 game per week (or 1.5 game/wk is average in soccer) whilst FPHL guys play a minimum of 2/3 sometimes 4 games weekly and practice almost everyday

Let's not let facts get in the way of minor league hockey/organized crime/socialist kickball fantasies.

You might want to find another point to help with evidence of your assertion, because this is more of a point of evidence for the other side than yours.

Since 1925, only 10 non-league teams have made it to the Round of 16. Only one has made it to the quarter finals. That one that made it to the quarters was Lincoln City who played Arsenal, then middle of the Premier League table, worst season since the mid-90s, who made almost wholesale changes to the starting eleven from their last league game, and what what was Arsenal's reserve side more or less went out won easily 5-0.

Another night in the FPHL! Watertown dressed their 49-year-old GM (with two games of "pro hockey experience"), who ran the opposing team's leading scorer from behind and knocked him unconscious Friday night.

But yeah, there's a pathway from this clownshow to the NHL. Sure.
