This is one of the worst trade proposals I have ever seen. Lander, 4th liner, playing in the KHL, Yakimov, even worse, in the KHL, cap dump AHL defenceman, and 2 very likely, lower 2nd round picks.
Green should be available at this years trade deadline, but the price will have to be miles better than this!
What do you think Green is? A Norris caliber defenceman?
2017 first
conditional* 2019 second (re-sign or conference finals)
Zach Sanford
Brad Malone
for
Shattenkirk (39% retained)
Pheonix Copley
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The above is the Shattenkirk trade.
Malone was an exchanged contract to keep the same contract numbers for both teams, he had no value.
Both prospects are decent. For the sake of simplicity, lets say they're even.
So the breakdown is:
Shattenkirk as $2.592
FOR
2017 1st (Pick 27-31 in what most consider a below average draft)
2019 conditional 2nd (a 2nd rounder two years away with an unlikely re-signing or conference finals)
If we use this as a strict comparable:
A pick in the early to mid second round in a deeper draft should provide a similar player as the 1st for Shattenkirk.
A 2019 2nd is more valuable to whoever the current GM is than a 2020 2nd however the condition of reaching the conference finals is four times more likely than winning the cup.
