Would have preferred we kept Samo and sent Niemelainen to the AHL to work on his puck-moving ability - especially when Murray is made of glass.

We'll see what we can do with Klim but yeah, Blues fans aren't wrong when they say "we aren't really sure what his identity is"

I'd kind of say the same thing about Samo.

He isn't overly skilled, he struggles defensively because of his skating and seems to have lost most of his physicality since turning pro. What was his identity going to be?

Safe IMO. One of his biggest selling points was his open ice hitting. Niemelainen is bigger and hits like a damn freight train.

I think Samorukov still has the potential to end up having a career like Kulikov - where he can move the puck a little bit and be a bit physical, it comes with some brain farts but ultimately I'd rather have depth at the D position than a bunch of meh forward depth.

I can't see Kostin being anything more than 4th line fodder.

Samo pivots like a battleship. Unless he fixes that, he’s going to struggle at the NHL level.

The guy is going to get walked wide a lot, or he has to play so far back that he gives up the blue line too easily.

He isn’t great positionally either.

Poor positioning + poor recovery ability usually isn’t a good combination.

Watching him try to defend rushes was painful.

1) he has good hands in tight.
2) he is hard to push off the puck.
3) St. Louis method of utilizing him is not working.
4) Sometimes he is not working well when he doesn't have the puck.
5) his vision is not great. He can pass but will never be mistaken for a creator.

I think i know the role for this guy.
His use has to change.

Not really excited about the player as I dont think hell be an Oilers past 2024. But Samos chances werent really that much higher

I dont get why JÄrnmark is so low in the hierachy. Because his cap, and he is a new guy I guess.
