Kovalchuk-Thornton-Spezza
Cap hit of $3mm
Speaking of which, here's my cheap bottom 6.That would have looked pretty good in 2010...

If he signs for 1m, thats fine,
Thornton - 41 year old - 31 points in 70 games... -19.
Spezza - 37 years old - 25 points in 58 games...-3
Why Thornton over Spezza? I get it in their primes its easily Thornton, but at 41 compared to 37?

Could there be a potential fit with Joe Thornton and Maple Leafs? - Sportsnet.ca
Those were the best lol. The first one against the Sens (first in shootout history). He took forever to get to the net, I felt like pushing him through my TV.
McCabe though did shoot that thang so many times. He rang that thang like it was world war III sire.As bad as Kaberle on the PP back in the day, loved the dude as a player but my God the amount of times I yelled at the TV SHOOT THE F,ING PUCK
Genius Dubas is exploiting the market inefficiencies that other GMs are blinded to though...
Rightly used Joe Thornton is still one of the best faceoff men in the league. San Jose used him differently during his last years in Jose. They put Pavelski, Couture, Hertl etc before him in the circle. Even if Joe was on the ice sometimes. During his earlier career for 15 years he always took the first faceoff with huge percentage. Greatly I might add, reminds me of Sundin in the circle. If The Joe was in toronto, he would be our second go to sucka in the faceoff dot after tavares. Of course matthews takes a lot of them and goodly goodly moogly, but thornton on C would make us even stronga. He would play the second PP and take everythang. He can't play PK at all. He is that slow of a slumb mother sucker now.5 on 5, Joe Thornton put up points at the same rate as Gauthier. Didn't hit. Didn't kill penalties. Was on the power-play for 2 minutes a game hitting 3.30 points/60 there. This would put him about 8th on the Leaf forwards. Maybe the biggest indicator? His 3.04 Takeaways/60? That would be a top 3 forward in that regards for the Leafs. His faceoffs were <50%.
Then again, he was probably playing with players with the same points productivity as Hyman and Engvall.
Kadri was the ultimate definition of a playoff no show. If he wasn't idiotically getting suspended, he was completely MIA on the ice.We trade Kadri away for 2 playoff no shows and now we want Joe. Is Dubas this keen on stockpiling playoff no shows?
In a heartbeat for sure, it's not even close. He was on pace for 35-40 points this past season in a limited role.
We could do a hell of a lot worse for a 4th line center on a bargain basement contract that can also be effective on the power play. I'd take him over Gauthier in a heartbeat.
I would take him to the old age home. That's not a source, but I'd take Thornton in a heartbeat.
Never won nothing,so he’s won something, right.Rumor: Toronto Maple Leafs To Sign Joe Thornton
My first thought: Great. Another old guy who's never won nothing! But on further reflection, another veteran leader can't hurt...as long as he's not making much more than the league minimum. Thoughts?
Yes,Kadri’s a real playoff no show.Kadri was the ultimate definition of a playoff no show. If he wasn't idiotically getting suspended, he was completely MIA on the ice.
