He looked phenomenal. Nice move for the goal but some nice battles on the boards and drove possession. He and Krejci had some real chemistry, which is what the team was looking for.

Colt, gotta give you props. We don’t always agree on our player assessments, but you are one of the few guys who is willing to admit if if you think you made a mistake.

Love JD’s hands in tight, and as you said, playing with DK, he should get plenty of those chances.

Unrelated, but I remember watching his Dad play. I don’t remember him being that LARGE.
Also, from an immature angle: if DeBrusk's sisters are going to be at all his games then he is my new favourite player.

As nice a first goal as that was, I think his next rush was even prettier. The one where Krejci hit him with speed coming across the blue line, DeBrusk put the puck under the D's stick, showed a little burst of speed to get a step on the D and then used his shoulder to power by. Then snapped a shot top corner that Rinne gloved. Awesome combination of skills on that rush, smarts, speed, power, hands, poise...

I want to take a closer look at his shot. I haven't seen it enough and I wonder if that's an area he can improve. Marchand's shot has really developed over the years and he could be a good mentor.
Going off of memory here, but I'm pretty sure that that was Josi that he dangled there.

It's only one game, but I will be happy to be wrong here.
I hope you are but you need to go a long way to beat my Rico Fata & Daniel Tkachuk are going to be studs

He seems like such a good kid I hope like heck he turns into a solid 20+ goal guy

Good lord I agree, Mrs Odaat was in the middle of taking a break from her studies just at the moment that Jake scored his goal and of course the camera panned onto the family, she asked who they were and then she said "every father`s nightmare having a few daughters who look like that":)

DeBrusk looked like a 20 year old Bergeron and that's something to behold. He's probably not gonna get 70 points, but last night's player has skill, intensity and smarts.

I loved his goal but he made another terrific play a bit later taking the puck wide on a D-man (not sure who), bending down and under the check and almost popped another one, THAT, is something a player either has or doesn`t have within them to do. I haven`t had the chance to see him play like many others here other than a few PB`s playoff games last year via stream, he and Bjork, after their first shifts, looked like vets out there, I understand of course there will be games here and there where they will look their age but for one October night at the TD, all`s good

Glad he isn’t a Debust! Lol.

What a game from him last night in front of his family. I’m not worried about him not being able to sustain that level of play because he works hard on every shift.

Two things I like about DeBrusk (not just this game but overall).
1) He calls himself a power forward. At 6' and maybe 190lbs he has to be the smallest one in the league. But I get what he is saying. He goes to the net, fights for position behind the D, and gets several whacks on the puck trying to beat the goalie. I didn't quite understand why some analysts and the coach thought he was the perfect fit for Krejci but having seen it for a full game I understand he is basically playing the same game (minus the fighting and intimidation) that Lucic did and is faster.
2) Personality. I mentioned this as something Sweeney has put an emphasis on over in the Drafting thread and it shows here. Watch the youtube video of his first goal someone posted earlier in this thread and you see him mugging Krejci on the bench. When was the last time you saw that on the bench? I don't think it is a surprise Krejci had his best game in 3 years when he is healthy physically and mentally invested in his line. You hear DeBrusk being interviewed and he takes responsibility for himself, and understands he needs to grow and learn and doesn't expect things to be handed to him but he has to achieve and earn his NHL spot. I'm not saying they choose scrub talent that has great personalities that can gel a locker room either. He was one of two 1st year eligible players to score 40 goals in his draft year. So the talent was there and I figure if the Bruins like 4 or 5 kids about the same they are then prioritizing them in order of who fits best in a Team Game.

I think this kid will be ROY this year. No reason he can't score 60-70 points. There's a lot to like here.

No reason he can't score 60-70 points? Your post quality has been overly negative so i take it that this post is a set-up for when DeBrusk doesn't reach these ridiculous expectations...

no matter how "wrong" you may end up being, I`ll put my "Marchand will never make the NHL" claims up against your thoughts on Jake 8 days a week:eek:
Haha, well the good thing about wrong negative predictions is who wants to be right about something bad? I'd rather the Bruins win the cup and I would be wrong about about everything I ever said

I had Vancouver in 5 in 2011 and may have if Adam Rome didn't lay out Nathan Horton

I am an advocate of Sweeney drafting but I was hoping Carlo & McAvoy would be playing this well in Providence
