Check isles record without JHS this year compared to with
Isles are still a much more dangerous team with him
Yeah, but is it really benefiting young JHS playing 3rd line in the nhl and struggling, when he could be regaining his confidence and getting 1st line minutes in the ahl?

If Koivula doesn't make it this year that's a huge red flag

Koivula and Salo are in team Finland's roster. Koivula likely in second line, with Aleksi Heponiemi (Swift Broncos, WHL [29gp, 19+52], Floridas second round pick 2017) and Aapeli Räsänen (Boston College, Edmontond 6th rounder 2016) an second PP-unit.

Salo played last friendly match against czech in fourth D-pair. Finland's team consist of 12 forwards and 8 defenders, I quess you can dress them all to one game, since Finland was playing with eight D-men? Dont see Salo getting much playing time since Finlands top-4 and even top-6 is pretty solid and should play big minutes, but you never know.

don't see how over a 0.5 ppg with 3rd line minutes is struggling but ok

He's brimming with confidence this year, he should have a big tournament.

Without really watching him admittedly, I just get the feeling that he could be tracking to make the team as a third liner next year, specifically in Nelson's LW spot.

He's got the NHL size and the NHL shot, and plays with that edge that the third line desperately lacks.

His footspeed will never be amazing, but I can see him carving out a solid NHL career where he consistently hits 20 goals with the potential for more if he can play in a top six role (which I'm not entirely convinced that he'll be able to; call me conservative).

Us Isles fans through the years have been burned by prospects. I am on the conservative view as well and take a wait and see approach

Yeah, I'm really just hoping they can get 20 goals out of Keiffer and Ladd-esque grit. Obviously that expectation is a prettt solid NHL player, but in no way shape of form am I expecting him to be a perrenial 30 goal scorer or something.

I think you are right, he can play in the NHL next year. If these were the 2009 Islanders, I would say he needs to be in the AHL. But the team is deep enough up front with a strong enough supporting cast, if he is used properly, he can fit in and contribute in a meaningful way. He will eventually supplant Ladd as the #2 LW behind Lee.

Ultimately, I see him as Barzal's Kolesar in the NHL. They will be a good fit together for a long time. Bellows has 30-30 potential, especially next to Barzal.

Watching the Canada-Finland game. Koivula is huge. He plays that Anders Lee type of role on the PP, big body in front of the net. His skating needs work though, but it's not a train wreck.

Did you see him causing havoc in front on the Finland goal? That was nice to see.

Koivula in front on the PP helps lead to the Finns second goal. He won’t get any assists but he definitely helped on both goals. He’s made a couple of nice passes too.

He may actually get a secondary assist on the PP goal.

Is Salo playing for the Finns? I thought I heard his name but every time I am looking at the game, I don't see him.
