Last year he did. This year Matthews has tougher matchupsYea considering he plays against top lines more than Matthews

Drai is a center and was unreal in the playoffs as a center on another line than McDavid. Giroux has played center his whole career, and isnt a winger just because he plays on the wing right now because they have tons of centers atm.
Staal had 65 points last season, Krejci is easily better when healthy. Some of them are pretty even but i would rather have Stepan for example than Kadri. Trocheck is better imo etc. Its just my list and i dont many if anyone on that list that he is clearly better than. Just my opinion, and as a Leaf fan you obviously rate Kadri higher if they are pretty even.
last year teams built strategy against the leafs around matthews, not kadri. kadri was not a 1c last year.
Kadri was on the ice against the opposition's best lines, and got the most defensive zone usage of any Leafs centre
Uhhh i think id take all 3 of those players over Kadri... Maybe Monahan is close but still id take him probably. And Schiefele? ReallyYes, Kadri is a #1 Center. Makes do with relative **** for linemates.
Moreso than guys considered #1 centers like Scheifele, Monahan, Draisaitl who are really just living off the coattails of elite linemates.
If that's your logic for listing Giroux and Drasiatl as Centers, shouldn't Drouin be listed as a Winger?
No. He is not. He is in every way a 2C. OP is a blatant homer, so he'll find some to disagree on, but regardless.
McDavid, Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Seguin, Backstrom, Getzlaf, Tavares, Kopitar, Scheifele, Matthews, Eichel, Draisaitl, Barkov, Bergeron, Zetterberg, Pavelski, Carter, Johansen, Kuznetsov, Monahan, MacKinnon, Toews, Giroux, O' Reilly, Thorton, Couture, Johnson, Staal, Kesler, Duchene
There is 31 guys off the top of my head I would take over Kadri. He had one career year, that does not define him as a 1C, and even if he could replicate his season several times to provide more of a sample, he'd barely be a 1C.
Top 82gm pace Centers, 16/17 - 17/18:
1.McDavid 31gls, 99pts
2.Crosby 46gls, 94pts
3.Malkin 41gls, 93pts
4.Backstrom 23gls, 87pts
5.Scheifele 33gls, 84pts
6.Getzlaf 17gls, 83pts
7.Eichel 32gls, 78pts
8.Matthews 42gls, 74pts
9.Tavares 35gls, 74pts
10.Seguin 28gls, 73pts
11.Barkov 28gls, 72pts
12.Zetterberg 18gls, 67pts
13.Kuznetsov 19gls, 65pts
14.Staal 29gls, 65pts
15.Kadri 34gls, 64pts
15.Carter 30gls, 64pts
15.Toews 23gls, 64pts
Yeah I agree. He is about there with most of those low tier 1C guys, they are more proven than him for the most part. But yeah I think he fits in pretty well with that big group of 2C guys.Bingo, id say he is on the same level as Johansen, Monahan, Kesler, Staal, Johnson and Thornton at this point but there are also a bunch of other centers that fit into that group as well. Turris, Stepan, Trochek, Brassard, Backlund, Drouin, Krejci, Spezza, Statsny, Zibanejad, Horvat, Granlund, Couturier, Larkin, Little, Rask, RNH that on any given night or season could be better than him could be worse etc its marginal.
He's 27, and excluding last year has career high point totals of 45 and 50. I wouldn't say he's defensively elite either.
Great #2 Centre, similar to that of Backlund, but your team will struggle if Kadri is your #1 centre IMO.
