Lol Andersson is better than Brannstrom, Liljegren, frost, ValimakiIn no particular order: Hischier, Patrick, Heiskanen, Makar, Pettersson, Glass, Mittelstadt, Vilardi, Necas, Brannstrom, Valimaki, Liljegren, Thomas, Chytil, Frost, Tolvanen. So thats 16 ahead of him, would put him 17th. You had him 13, not that much of a difference. I think he was over-drafted, but will be a quality NHL'er.
Morgan Frost: Eased the pain of passing on Tolvanen, but would still rather have Eeli. Frost looks like he could be very good. He did play on a great team though so he may just be a product of it, I hope he gets to prove himself next year at the WJC.
Oops my bad. World junior summer showcase he was the best player thereHuh? He hasn't played at the last 2 Hlinka's due to age.
His views do not line up with the majority or Flyers fans. I just left it alone since he is entitled to his opinion.Frost finishes the regular season 2nd in ohl scoring and you're still not sold on him completely? 3 points less than the league leader I remind you.
He was a 27th overall selection, not even a top 20 selection.
As a Wings fan, I hated our 2017 draft, and outside of Rasmussem, it has been an unmitigated disaster. For example, Lane Zablocki had 30 goals last year, including 19 in 29.
He has one goal in 25ish games now. Every single player but rasmussen has underperformed, and they werent good picks to begin with.
Ras is the one bright spot though. I HATED the pick when it was made, but the more I watch him, the more I think he is going to be a very good NHLer. His overall game is vastly underestimated

I think you should give Lindstrom a bit more credit. I think he's got potential and has had a solid season. He hasn't exactly exploded, but he's progressing about as you'd expect. At least he hasn't regressed.
I also disagree on Rasmussen as the bright spot. He hasn't regressed, but there's nothing to be excited about IMO. At the draft I thought he was about a 3/4C and a PP specialist. He hasn't done anything to change my opinion on that. His primary and ES points have improved some, but not enough to make me feel much better.
All in all, at one year out I feel like we did horrendously. This would be an acceptable draft if we had the 31st pick and traded our second at the TDL because we were the cup favorites. For a top 10 pick, rebuilding team, it's inexcusable.
Robert Thomas has been one of the best in the OHL. The trade to Hamilton seemed to have slowed him down for a stretch.
Klim Kostin has been ok, not spectacular but decent for an 18yr old in the AHL
I thought that of Rasmussen too, until I saw him play in preseason. Skating is a non issue, and was very good defensively.
Isn’t Jokiharju in the WHL?I love what Chicago accomplished in this draft.
Jokiharu (29th)- One of the best defensmen in the OHL. Had 48pts in 71 games and a plus/minus of 14 last year. This year, he's had 71pts in 63 games and a plus/minus of 47. Just love how that kid can transition the puck up ice. He does want to make the Hawks next year, but I think he's still a little too green for that.
Mitchell (57)- Best defensmen for the University of Denver. Has more than double the points of the 2nd best defensmen on that team (his partner and 22yo Hawks prospect Blake Hillman). He just kinda took the role that Will Butcher left and ran with it. Supposedly is very good defensively too (has a great gap). His point totals aren't far off from Quinn Hughes who is likely to go in the top 10 in the '18 draft (Hughes is like 9 months younger, but it's still good to have a 2nd rounder from a year ago be comparable to an upcoming top 10 draft pick).
Altybarmakyan (70)- Hasn't seemed to do much, but it seems like he was a pick that needed quite a bit of seasoning. Never hear anyone mention him, but with a name like that, I kinda understand.
Barratt (90)-Has had a decent rookie season in the NCAA. Nothing spectacular, but steady progress all the same.
Soderlund (112)- Otherwise known as Arvidsson 2.0. The comparisons to these two are scary close and Soderlund continued drawing parallels by having a season very similar to what Arvidsson had in 12-13.
So out of our top 5 picks for 2017, I'm happy with 4 of them and unsure of only one. Not bad.
