I know we gave up A LOT but given what OEL has accomplished on a mostly bad team in Arizona, we think the sky's the limit for him on a playoff team. With OEL, Byfuglien, Gardiner, Myers, and Dillon, we believe we may be among the best defenses in the league now. It seems like we gave up our entire future in this deal, but there's already so much young talent on this team and in the organization that it seemed doable. Rieder will essentially fill Connor's role in the NHL while Richardson will provide helpful depth at center.

To make it happen, Dallas put together an impressive package, We are absolutely thrilled to add an elite young defenseman like Heiskanen to our organization. It is no secret that losing Sergachev hurt our future on defense and we have solved the situation with the acquisition of Heiskanen, especially when you also consider the emergence of Victor Mete and the development of Noah Juulsen. Suddenly, our future looks bright again on defense.

We are also happy to add Faksa who will be given the chance to reach the next level of his potential as a two-way second line center. Roussel will be a good fit in our bottom 6, we really like his game. Of course, another first round pick is a great asset to add.

Faksa and Roussel will be missed; Roussel was a servicable bottom 6 forward for the team since 2012 (and as an undrafted player, it was a long road to the NHL for him), while Faksa has been one of the team's most promising youngsters since we drafted him in 2012. It's hard to miss Heiskanen, as he hasn't left Europe since being drafted this summer. But he's the centerpiece of the haul for the Habs. We wish all three young men the best in Montreal.

Pacioretty, meanwhile, is a very exciting addition to our already-good forward group. Clearly he wasn't in a situation to win in Montreal at the time and he'll be at the forefront of one in Dallas, playing alongside Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov on the first line (we plan to move Jamie Benn to the second line to balance things out; breaks up a lethal scoring line but Pacioretty-Seguin-Radulov should still be one of the NHL's best lines). Overall, tough price to pay but we got an elite player who creates much-needed depth.

- Looking to move out UFA's. Kane will go by tomorrow night. Pouliot is on pace for 20+ goals and can come relatively cheap. Johnson is a cheap, veteran backup who has proved to be able to start and steal games in the past.

- Looking to upgrade any position. Solid team already but might want to upgrade our RD specifically. All picks and prospects OTB to do so.
