Zach Bogosian

:sabres

Mark Barberio

Buffalo has been very busy early on to mix up this whole mess. Bogosian just wasn't working out here with his big cap hit, especially considering the fact he hasn't been on the ice much. We wish him the best but like Barberio as a replacement bottom-pair guy for the year and hope to spend the money better this offseason. In addition to this, we have made 2 other moves...

To :jets - Alex Nylander
To :sabres - Kristian Vesalainen + 2018 WPG 2nd

We don't think Nylander is a longterm solution here. We value Vesalainen very high and think his style is a great fit for our top-6 group in the future.

To :nashville - Ryan O'Reilly + Jake McCabe
To :sabres - Mattias Ekholm + Nick Bonino

This core was in a desperate need of a shakeup. We NEEDED to upgrade the D and getting a legit two-way, top-pair D in Ekholm is huge. O'Reilly will be missed but we will look for others who are cheaper to fill his void. After showing promise McCabe has made himself very expendable with his play this year.

:jets confirm Nylander-Vesalainen deal. We believe that while Nylander certainly hasn't lived up to the hype since being taken 8th overall in 2016, he's still a talented player who slots well into our long-term future.

Updated. Far from done. Still want to mix up our goal-tending situation by trading Lehner. He has posted good stats behind a horrible team for a while now but need a fresh face back there. Also have LOTS of UFA's of varying degrees...not a single offer yet on one of the best power forwards in the game in Evander Kane. Open to other depths move around some younger players here like Larsson, Girgensons, Beaulieu, etc.

I am willing to consider moving Max Pacioretty in a package involving an elite C or LHD prospect.

We understand it might be difficult for a contender to add Pacioretty but to let go another core piece in the roster.

Let's see where it will lead us...

:leafs Leafs Solidify Defense :leafs
DIC17031402_Blackhawks_at_Canadiens1.jpg
The Leafs were busy early in advance of the deadline, making a pair of major deals to solidify their defensive core. Kasperi Kapanen and Toronto's 2018 first round pick were dealt to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for defensive stalwart Niklas Hjalmarsson. The Leafs also announced the acquisition of right-shot defender, and impending RFA; Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets at the cost of Jake Gardiner and San Jose's 2nd rounder.

"We are very excited by the two deals we were able to complete today. Nik and Jacob represent long-term solutions to our organizational needs on defense. We view both as capable top pairing defenders, who complement each other quite well. While it was difficult to move Jake and Kasperi, it is a testament to the depth that our scouting staff and development team have created within the organization. The development of so many talented young players in the organization has provided us with not just results on the ice, but also a pool of quality assets from which we can use to address needs. The acquisition of Hjalmarsson made us better defensively, but further emphasized a legitimate hole in terms of right shot defenders. Trouba will bring many of the qualities Gardiner brought to the game, but we believe that there is more room for development there. Ultimately, we were able to land two guys capable of logging high -quality minutes without having to surrender top assets, which is very exciting."
:coyotes confirm and welcome Kasperi to the organization. We wish Nik the best of luck.

Tom Pyatt

Cody Ceci
Frederik Claesson

David Perron (1.5m retained)

To :nashville - Ryan O'Reilly + Jake McCabe
To :sabres - Mattias Ekholm + Nick Bonino

:nashville confirms both deals.

We are very pleased that Perron waived his NTC to come here to play for the cup. We felt that the late 1st and 3rd were worth solidifying our top 9 for a Cup run.

While it was tough to remove a piece from our top 4 D, we really felt we needed to improve up front for a chance at the cup and we feel that ROR will do that for us, providing elite defensive ability up front and provide more scoring. We also believe that Jake McCabe will thrive with Nashville's defensive system and help soften the blow of losing Mattias Ekholm.

We feel confident in this group and are content with going into the playoffs with them. However, Tolvanen is still available if we can bring back a young D-man with top 4 potential.

Lineup is updated.

Columbus has traded Sonny Milano, Emil Benstrom and a 2018 3rd round pick to Vancouver for Ben Hutton and Thomas Vanek

We're in full win now mode. Hutton gives us great versatility with our 2nd and 3rd pairs, and when Ryan Murray is healthy we feel we'll have one of the top defenses in the Eastern Conference.

Thomas will add immediate scoring punch to our 3rd line.

Still in the market for a capable center that can be versatile and play anywhere in our top 9. Also looking to move a little salary and find a long term home for Jori Korpisalo

Gonna be around most of the afternoon/evening. Would love to hammer out a few deals, even if it's minor ones, since I'm not sure how much I'll be around Friday/Saturday.

My priority is moving Smith, Thompson, Burrows, Wideman, Oduya and Condon. Obviously open to a bigger move with one of my younger players as well.

Kane starting to receive some interest. Will likely be moved today or tomorrow so get your offers in soon for the top tier rental.

:vegas still hunting for a Top 4 RD. I have englland and hunt so the 3rd pair is fine. We have 32 picks in the next 3 drafts so we gotta ammunition ;)

Also looking to move a bottom 6 F for a prospect or waiver-eligible youngster. Looking into adding a veteran bottom 6 once I open up the spot for cheap (not spending a lot on one, especially if he has a hefty cap hit). Will also move 2019 picks for prospects

:hawks looking to shed salary while we re-tool. Panik otb for a cheaper Top 9 or pick. Berube for prospect or pick fora team needing a 2/3G

Others that can be moved in hockey trades: (more salary will have to go out than come back tho)

Murphy (top 4 RD), Anisimov (2C), Crawford (1G)

All UFAs besides Rutta and Sharp otb. This includes bottom 6ers like Bouma and Wingels, top 4/6 D like Franson and Kempny, depth like Svedberg(d), Tootoo(f) Martinsen(f) and Glass (g)

:nucks Confirm.

Though it’s tough to move a goal scorer in Vanek, as well as a solid young defender in Hutton, we feel this deal helps us moving forward. Milano is a promising young prospect who we feel is capable of putting up 30+ goals in the future. Milano will report to Utica and Benstrom will stay in Europe.

Craig Anderson is available. Likely going to try and find a younger option in nets during this re-tool. Price isn't overly high, would like to find a competitive team for him though.

Interest in Cody Ceci is starting to pick up, looking for a 1st round pick or blue chip prospect as the centerpiece.

Lindgren is NHL ready but we didn't have a spot for him in a near future. We wish him all the best in Colorado and are happy to add another 2018 2nd round pick.

debrinicat's emergence made Panik expendable. Chicago gets an underrated bottom 6 and 1.7m of precious cap space, MTL gets a solid winger
