"Ah, TCage, have a seat. On behalf of ownership let me welcome you as the GM of the St Louis Blues"

"Thank you Sir. You've made a great hire. I'm glad my years of successful GM experience caught your eye."

"Yeah, that wasn't why we hired you..."

"So it was because I'm an upstanding individual and well-respected?"

"Okay look...maybe we were trying to call Hollywood Couturier and dialed you by mistake. Let's not live in the past, let's talk about rebuilding this team"

"O...k... Well there are a few exciting free agents that could really boost...."
"Lemme stop you there. We have no money."
"No money?"
"OK, we have some money. Just not, you know, much"
"Aw geez. We aren't moving to Saskatoon again are we? Its not as great as it looks on Corner Gas"
" No no no. We just need you to keep the cap around, like 68 million?"

"Well thats not much wiggle room..."

Looking to get younger and cheaper.

Berglund/Sabotka/Steen- Looking for cheaper, younger alternatives. Sabotka the most likely of the three to go
Thorburn- Something. Won't have a roster spot next year when i bring kids up

JayBo- Still a defensive 2nd pair, just not useful on a rebuilding team.A good pick/prospect will work, as well as a youngster with upside. Preference goes to teams looking to take the full cap hit.
Gunner- Same as JayBo, but asking price a little less as hes more of a 5/6 than a 3/4

Jake Allen- Young forward, picks, prospects. Won't give him away, but wont be too high a price. Not a lot of young-ish guys with #1 experience on the market, but we are looking at going for a more 1A type as we bring Husso up (with Binnington waiting in the wings)

Binnington- Great AHL season. Wouldnt mind keeping him as the 3, but will move him if someone wants to use him in the NHL next season

WIN 1st- Will move for a more NHL-ready prospect or as part of a package for an upgrade

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired TJ Brodie from the Calgary Flames in exchange for Tyler Johnson and Braydon Coburn (700k retained).

We thank Tyler for his contributions on and off the ice over the last few years. Unfortunately, it was time to shakeup the core of this team. We have many exciting young prospects who are ready to play in the NHL after dominating in the AHL. We think TJ will help solidify our top D pairing with Victor Hedman.

Finally, we will continue to work towards shaping the core of our team with the goals of winning the cup in 2019. Many players may yet be traded in the next few days, including McDonagh, Palat, Miller, Gourde, Paquette, and possibly Callahan.

:flames confirm.

We feel that the acquisition of Tyler Johnson gives us much needed depth at the center ice position allowing us to move Mikael Backlund down to a 3rd line role where he'll excel. We also feel that Braydon Coburn gives us a veteran presence on our bottom pairing.

Calgary also announces they have re-signed the following:

Mark Jankowski- 2 years, $3M($1.5M AAV)
Brett Kulak- 2 years, $2M($1M AAV)
Nick Shore- 1 year, $975K
Garnet Hathaway- 1 year, $725K
Jon Gillies- 2 years, $825K AAV($225K AHL)
David Rittich- 2 years, $825K AAV($225K AHL)
Morgan Klimchuk- 2 years, $875K AAV ($92.5K AHL)
Hunter Shinkaruk- 1 year, $925K ($92.5K AHL)

:wild around for most of the night.

Looking to find new homes for Granlund and Spurgeon.

Could also move Suter, Parise and Dubnyk or other vets.

Brodin and/or Dumba CAN be had, but would take a very strong future based offer with a 1st/top prospect + for me to even consider.

Looking For: High end young centers, Young defensemen, Goalie prospects/young backup.

Travis Hamonic/Michael Stone remain available, either for a top 6 RW or in a deal for pick(s).

Sam Bennett could be moved as well, either in a package with one of the aforementioned defensemen, or alone, for a similarly aged/valued RW'er.

Ilya Kovalchuk sweepstakes are heating up with as many as 6 teams interested in the Russian sniper. He'd prefer to make his return to a contending team but isn't going to sacrifice millions of dollars to do so. At this point the minimum it will take to get in the conversation is $5M AAV and 2 years.

Ilya has received several offers from competitive teams in the $6M AAV range. At this stage he is narrowing his offers down so if you're interested and have yet to make an offer, now is the time to do so! Also, if you have an offer on the table and would like to increase it, let me know! He could be signing tonight.

Glass, Theodore, Karlsson, Marchessault, and Fleury won't be moving. Looking to add high-end talent to the team, willing to discuss anyone other than those listed, as well as picks.

Wouldn't mind giving Lindberg or Eakin fresh starts elsewhere. That being said, we have ample cap room and are not going to surrender assets to dump the contracts.

Willing to take on problem contracts in the right deals, and Tomas Tatar could be discussed if a 1st in this years draft is on the table.

17th overall+ still in play for a young LHD with potential.

With my new depth at C, I could move recently acquired Michael McLeod for a D prospect or a winger prospect with equivalent value.

Ilya Kovalchuk has narrowed his decision down to two contending teams. Barring unforeseen circumstances and a surprise team making a last minute offer, Ilya will likely sign tonight.

TRADES

To :wild - Trent Frederic, David Backes
To :bruins - Future Considerations

To :wild - Carl Hagelin
To :pens - Future Considerations

After moving out many of our forwards in the Carolina blockbuster, we had tons of roster spots open and cap space.

We got 2 useful vet forwards for free while adding a great C prospect and have the cap space to swallow these deals.

Grubauer is still available, but our preference is to now sign him. We're looking for D-men. Connolly and all remaining picks/prospects are available.
This is still true. Except we already signed Grubauer. But I'll still trade him for the right price. Don't come at me with B prospects and mediocre draft picks.
