Rest assured a position change remains a top priority to Oates for Kuz. As well as a role change, checker and little PP time. Oh and good luck not forming an opinion on him as he learns the famed Oates "25 games to learn" system.

I still contend a system that eliminates the chance a TDL FA pickup to contribute, is too complex and is likely counter productive unless the team is properly assembled and assets are not wasted at the deadline. Starting with finding a goalie on out to our beleaguered D. A system that complex with holes as big as ours.... you have to ask why is Oates bothering. Keep it simple.

New boss = new Chelyabinsk oblast governor. Magnitka fan btw, doubt Traktor's funding will skyrocket.

I half expect to see GMGM and Oates walk out in clown shoes and announce he will be in net....they go with 4 goalies and petition Jay Gruden to punt on 3rd down......they will waddle

IMO caps will get Kuznetsov sooner than expected. Traktor looks like they wont even get into the playoffs as they are riding in the final place and descending (didn't bulk up at the deadline, losing key games), and Omsk and Admiral are looking strong, right on their heels.

All the sarcastic and snarky stuff aside, I'm still 100% excited for Kuz's arrival. He's not what the team needs right now, but there probably aren't any Pietrangelos available anyway. Might as well add an electric offensive specialist to at least make the team more interesting.

And really, what else do we have to look forward to? A first round exit? Maybe, possibly, potentially the end of the McPhee era?

Another Rocket for Ovie would be nice, but is pretty pedestrian compared to his peak years.

Traktor's season so far looks a lot like the Caps'. Something like this:

As much as I want to finally see him in a Cap uniform. I think they should try to convince him to rest and come over next season. Its been a long season for him. And we can save a year of control.

Its either sign him and play him or he waits till he turns 22 and gets the 2 year ELC either way.

No we can't. If he signs this year, it's a 3-year ELC (counting this season). If he signs next year, it'll only be a 2-year ELC given that he'll already be 22.

I want this kid to succeed so much. A young super skilled infusion of talent and exuberance is needed so badly in this franchise.

Me too, but getting tired of waiting. I can't fault him for making money even though as a Caps fan I have selfish reasons for him being here. Just hope he pans out and stays healthy.

We've been needing a Semin replacement for 3 years now. Kuz might be the secondary scoring this team and OV need.

He does seem to have a lot more passion than Semin though. We'll see how his skills translate over in the NHL. I'm really hoping he can make an impact right away.
