So it was my first time watching Kotkansalo tonight vs. Canada let's just say he has a long way to go.

He was directly at fault for 2 goals against. The first one he let the player walk right around him to score. The second one he left his man wide open at the side of the next and the guy scored with a one timer.

Finland was supposed to have one of the best defenses in the tournament and it looked like a Detroit with Kotkansalo being the worst of the bunch.

It was one game but I didnt like what I saw from him.

Keep in mind the other 5 defenseman are all 1st rounders on Finland. So he should look worst of the bunch, to be perfectly honest.

I didn't even know we had that many goalies in the system. I they really are hunting right-handed defencemen.

David Pope is in his senior year at University of Nebraska-Omaha.
He broke out as a junior with 13-18-31.
He's even better this year. 11-12-23 in 18 games.
Are the Red Wings going to sign him?
He might be best off going the UFA route at this point.

Why? Is it somehow easier to get an NHL chance in some better level roster? Red Wings crap roster is one of easiest to get an NHL job. Why look somewhere else? He also knows everybody after all summer camps he has been involved.

Had to use bit.ly links because this forum platform didn't like a Swedish word that was in the link.

Cool story. Hope he has found joy in offseason training now though, I’ve really liked his game at the WJCs but he needs to work on his skating to really become something.
