Lol, blaming Bettman for Hollands' problems is hilarious blud. Nurse is getting paid more than Makar. Hyman is an awful contract, and then getting Kane on top of that was not really needed. Ceci is probably being paid 1.5 million too much and wanting to pay close to 3 million for Foegle is hilarious. Campbell was overvalued at UFA and paid a premium for somebody that lost the starting role. I am not saying that Yamamoto and Kostin are the answers long-term, but you lot drafted Kalier and then gave him an extension and now simply gave him away for free due to overvaluation. Hilarious organisation.
Also also blame the NHLPA for using the escalator so many times that they incurred so much escrow, and then covid happened and they got stuck

This is laughable
What's laughable? Hyman and Kane are very good players, but do you honestly need both? Oilers do not have problems scoring goals and won't have a problem if they got rid of Hyman or Kane. That will free up 5 million to increase in another weakness...like not relying on Kulak or Ceci in prime minutes.

Yeah i loved relying on two players for years before we got them. They were absolutely needed. Calling Hymans contract awful is laughable and flat out ridiculous after the season he just had.

He will be missed. Another case of a young guy taking bad advice from his agent.
How's that? How is wasting away his "show me" years getting less than 10 minutes a night at all good for his future earning potential?

You can't just bury a kid indefinitely and expect him to be happy about minimum wage.

He was on waivers last year after struggling for years to establish a role in the nhl. The oilers picked him and he found a role on a good team and had the most personal success he’s ever had at this level. Now he’s going to have to re-establish himself on a new team log jammed with bottom 9 guys to maybe earn 5-600 k more this year. Edmonton was the best thing to happen to him in his career so far.

There is a ton of icetime available to him on the Wings, not to mention a contract. Yzerman hasn't committed on qualifying Veleno, so him, Suter, and Erne are likely walking. That's our 4th line.

Perron - Larkin - Raymond
Rasmussen - Copp/Kasper - Kubalik
Fabbri - Kasper/Copp - Berggren
Yamamoto? - Kostin? - Soderblom? - Mazur? - Zadina?

We don't double shift the top end so our bottom 6 gets plenty of time to prove themselves. Or not. Granted he didn't pick Detroit, he got traded, but it didn't sound like Edmonton was giving him any kind of opportunity for anything. Anything is better than that. Which is why he was considering the KHL until this trade.

He isn’t guaranteed anything in Detroit. Could very well be back on waivers next year if he fails to establish himself. Like I said Edmonton was the best situation he’s found himself in the nhl by a landslide and he’s walking away from that for a few hundred grand short term. Maybe he has plenty of success in Detroit and it works out but that’s not a guarantee. He could very well end up like he was in St Louis.

He's gotta have a contract to be on waivers. Maybe he scrubs out of the league. But he wants to give himself a shot. Good on him for believing in himself.

Cap space is such a prized commodity.

It’s getting stupid at this point, just raise the cap.

If the cap was raised, the same dumb GMs would make the same stupid mistakes just with more dollars and longer term contracts. You can't fix stupid, even by raising the cap. Arguably, the cap unintentionally operates to keep the GMs from hurting their teams even worse than they are already hurting them now.

Oil fans. Is Kostin sandpaper?
You guys will love him if you can get him signed. He is tough as nails and will fight. Scores some timely goals too. He was apparently wanting 2 mill and played less than 10 minutes a game. Oilers just couldnt afford him for the amount of time he plays. Detroit might be able to sign him for less though. On the negative side he was inconsistent and took a few too many dumb penalties. More ice time might help though.

Tough when you need to include Kostin just to move on from Yamamoto. Given the American market, Kostin likely signs for what Edmonton wanted to sign him for
Oilers couldnt sign Kostin so how is that tough? They traded a player they wanted to move for cap reasons and a player they couldnt sign.

Nurse is giving up a lot more UFA years than Makar, Hyman is a good enough contract for what he brings, Kane is a bargain as well.
Ceci is a top 4 Dman forced to play top pairing shutdown minutes. He isn't overpaid at all
2.75 to Foegele is overpayment by about 500k max

Campbell is the true let down, Yama and Puljujarvi didn't deserve the deals they got

Yzerman adding former St. Louis Blues player?

Call me surprised. :)

Everything started from Robby Fabbri. It's starting to a long list:
- W Fabbri (for De la Rose)
- D Walman (from Leddy trade)
- RW Sundqvist (from Leddy trade)
- G Husso (traded for UFA rights)
- W Perron (UFA)
- W Kostin (EDM-trade, + Yamamoto)

I wonder if Ryan O'Reilly (Perron's good buddy) is also the UFA target. :) Wings a still missing a legit center, before Kasper and Danielson are ready.
