Look, I'm a DeAngelo fan and have been since he was in JRs, he had a great year this year. It's not just the points with him, he individually creates dangerous chances for himself and others. But yeah, his D is below par. And if NYR are going to deal him because they are convinced that Nils can replace him and they can add to another part of the team, that's fine.
But understand: You aren't just trading a 50-60 pt talented D. You are also trading a below par defensive D who 3 teams would now have decided they didn't want. Other teams are going to factor that in, fair or not, and that's going to affect his value. So Rangers will have to decide do we still want to trade him when the return may be less than we hope for, because some of the asks by some Rangers fans just aren't realistic given the whole picture.
