I was thinking he should be apart of a deal where the Rangers would make a trade for Jack Eichel if the Sabres continue to get nowhere.

I DIDN'T SAY 1-FOR-1!!!

The problem with TDA's value is length of time. He's had 1 season as an elite OFD. Any team trading for him isn't going to want to pay top pair D premium for a guy that could regress next year. I'm guessing he had HEAVY offensive zone deploy %, and if any of his offense falls off, he's not an all-situation d-man that you can put on PK/defensive zone starts.

Looking at his stats, it looks like he had a higher shooting percentage than average, almost 58% offensive zone starts, and very little PK time. Looks like he's an offense first, second, and third d-man. He couldn't crack the PK on a very below average PK unit. He's not a top pair d-man, he's a sheltered offensive specialist. If he can string together a few good offensive seasons, he will have more value. That's still something that's needed in the league, but for the moment he doesn't have the value that Ranger fans are thinking to other teams. Best case scenario might be to sign him to a short contract, hope he keeps putting up numbers, and trading him before he goes for a major payday.

Antonio Brown is a helluva talent too.
Yeah, great comparison, because it’s a known fact DeAngelo gets into arguments with his teammates, skips practices, requests trades, and threatens to quit the game because he insists on wearing his old helmet.

Where did I say they had the exact same issues?

No interest in RNH. Not only am I not infatuated with the type of player he is, but he also doesn’t fit the timeline for NYR. He will be due for a lucrative raise, which the Rangers should want no part of.

He would be in the sense of how he'd be a blue-chip piece in the deal per-say if it were to happen now. Plus I think the Rangers want to get rid of him.

Don't know where he'd be dumped other than that though.

Well I don't think the Sabres are in any rush to move Eichel.

So DeAngelo will likely be gone long before he's available.

Plus I can't see Buffalo taking him just because the Rangers want to get rid of him.

Oilers sure as hell wouldn't trade him for DeAngelo so I guess you're safe.

I keep saying that something around DeAngelo for RNH makes a lot of sense. The issue is that I think the Rangers have to add to DeAngelo, and ideally add a center, to make that deal work and I'm just not sure what center they have that the Oilers would want.

Maybe DeAngelo and Chytil or Georgiyev for RNH?
Huge difference between Chytil and Georgiev.

They

They could extend him and play Lundkvist in the AHL for a year

It all comes down to if they can find a good LD to make it worth a move

Lundkvist isn't coming over next year. If we trade DeAngelo we'll have to find somebody or call a player up for the right side. Maybe we can give Joey Keane a shot. Oh, wait...

Smith can play the right side if needed (if DeAngelo was traded), but would require finding a left side defensemen who can play with Trouba.

I don't think thats the full picture either. Apparently hes a racist and a Trump supporter. I didn't even know until I googled his name and that was the first thing that popped up really surprising being a Trump supporter doesn't really lower his value but having a history of being a racist definitely will.(now this was back when he was in juniors so who knows but with cancel culture happening I don't see teams wanting this type of head ache on there hands.)

Extend TDA. Just trade Lundkvist for a C prospect and be done with it.

Terrible idea. I'm not opposed to keeping ADA short term if we can fit him under the cap this year, but under no circumstance should we be trading Lundkvist before we see what he can do at the NHL level.

That's a need regardless of what happens with Smith or ADA.
