Will Weber was playing for the Fort Wayne Komets (ECHL) a year or two ago when I was at a Komet's game... So, he wasn't too far away from making it to Columbus, not long ago... Distance wise, obviously :)

Really not sure why CBJProspects continues to tweet about Daniel Zaar. I’m pretty positive that he’s no longer CBJ property.

Elvis Merzlikins, one dream at a time.
The goalkeeper praised by Jarkko Ruutu, scout of the Blue Jackets

It seems obvious that the question, currently, is not "if" Elvis Merzlikins will make the jump to the NHL, but simply "when?" and "in which jersey?". Because after performances like the one given Wednesday evening at the Hallenstadion (50 saves in overtime), the Lugano goalkeeper's name has certainly been abundantly highlighted on the scout's notebooks coming from overseas. These include Jarkko Ruutu, development coach of players in Europe on behalf of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

"He was good, he played very solidly, laid down, transmitting his calmness to the team,- explained Ruutu to "Rete Uno Sport" Omar Meshale in phone interview - He was not disturbed by the traffic often present in front of his net, focusing only on the puck. The goalkeeper is the most difficult position when there is so much pressure on the track and in these circumstances Elvis always manages to provide his best performance and you feel that his head is focused solely on the game. If a team advansed to the final its goalie must necessarily should be a great goalie."

But, as already previously questioned about his future, Elvis Merzlikins has declared that, before wearing an NHL jersey, he absolutely wants to win the title with Lugano. But if you want to do it this year, you will have to do a lot of work, to overcome a 1-3 deficit in the final series: a successful venture in the past made only by 2 people, Lukas Flüeler in 2012 and Ari Sulander (just against Lugano) in 2001.

He still has another year on his Lugano contract, and there's no NHL out clauses in Swiss league deals.

Well there are no KHL out clauses necessarily in Eurasian deals either but Europe is a free market so come and get since there is very little communism compared to the Americas in these deals. Likely your million dollar organization has some league wide guiding pact that no one pays Eurasian clubs transfer fees based on the proper market value so that it won't interfere you continuing to steal serfs from far less wealthier clubs when in example transfers of those remarkable players to KHL would mean a huge deal of income but instead the clubs are forced to take your salt money.

What is one season of Merzlikins contract worth? 0,5 to 1,5 million dollars?

Lol no, he's making 200K max.

What is Merzlikins contract worth to his Swiss club is the market value. They aren't giving out his contract for free since they are relatively wealthy club and surely have protected themselves from any two hundred thousand dollar f*** to you offers (or buy-out) when signing the deal.

I do not know if any NHL club has even bought players from Eurasia for their market value when there are these arrangements in place so in that sense Merzlikins won't be likely coming over. And I do not see why would he even come when Bobrovski is still in place and minutes available remain low.
