Best prospect since Yakupov
You're out of your mind if you think Yak was a better prospect at this stage of development. He's going to be terrific, but McDavid is on another planet in terms of potential.

He's the best prospect since Crosby. The kid's unreal.
You anger JT.
McDavid, from the one time i saw him which was last night, was the best player on either team bar none. I saw Galchenyuk earlier in the year and he is definitely a little more seasoned but McDavid is phenomenal. The kid's hands, overall offensive and defensive awareness was incredible. When there was cycling down low, he always stayed low in the slot so he could get back in a hurry. Honestly, he looks like he's already 6' (not sure what he's listed at).. definitely hope to see more of him.
Tavares was a great prospect, was hyped alot and has obviously turned into a great NHLer.. but the skating if what seperates McDavid from him, at the same point in their careers. I honestly can't see a flaw in his game. He's got decent size (5'11"), ridiculous speed and hands and outstanding hockey sense to boot and he's only going to get better and better.
Tavares' skating was obviously a weak point in his game, so you have to consider how good his hands and hockey sense must have been to put up the numbers that he did. It was simply other-worldly. Have to wonder how his stats would have looked with McDavid's speed.
How's he playing? The points don't seem to be coming and threads or at least posts on HF about him have dried up as well. What's going on in Erie? Plus, anybody hear about if he gets an invite to Team Canada U18 camp?

He'll certainly get invited to the camp (Ekblad did)...I think he has an excellent chance at making the team - he should be one of the best offensive players there.
He's slowed down a bit this season...but he couldn't have been expected to keep up his initial pace. In addition, now that the NHL is back, people aren't paying as much attention to jr. hockey.
I think we are talking about the IIHF U18's in April and Ekblad never got invited last year. Ekblad would get invited this year if Barrie is out of the playoffs I am sure, but he will be an underage playing with mostly 95's.
McDavid will be a double underage as this tourney is mostly for '95 born, but I think he still has a pretty good shot at getting invited. McDavid will for sure get an invite to the U18 Hlinka camp in August for '96's.
Think this kid has been told to bulk up yet? I'm not saying he's a weasel but by his draft year, how big do you guys expect him to be?
