How bad is his skating?

Lets hope he lights it up and then come deadline we swing him for a pick/prospect.

I agree with you on this, but I'd rather get a younger RHPMD than Shattenkrik who will cost more than Zucc if we sign him after this year. Zucc has a lot of value. 4.5M for a 60 pt positive possession wingrr is robbery. We should be able to get a Trouba/Dumba level player back

This.

The forwards are like a wine cellar.

The defense is Olde English 800 out of a paper bag.

I'm not liking this analogy, as I am having a 40 of OldE now, haha.

While on topic (and not directed at you), I was more than surprised when I saw this signing. Writing is definitely on the wall that they are floating Nash's name back out there; not just cause of Pirri, but cause the whole direction this offseason.

Obviously we have plenty of guys battling for those bottom spots, but I want, and hope, to see Jooris get 4c. I liked that signing a lot.

Only issue I have with bringing in Pirri, Zib, Vesey, and Holden is that while the first three are shooters, they're losing a lot of playmaking in Brassard, Yandle, and one of Nash/Zuc if they're shipped out.

Who is going to feed the puck to these shooters on the PP? Stepan, Skjei, McD, and whichever of Zuc/Nash is still here? Buchnevich?

Nash isn't a passer, buch is more of a playmaker then a goal scorer. Stepan, buch, zucc, skjei and mac are all good options as passers

Very possible. Very possible.

If the Rangers want to change the vibe of the locker room, this is the way to do it.

I would however wager that a "Goal Scorer" is getting traded.

If they are counting on a possible 17-22 goal season out of Pirri feasting on soft minutes and PP duty, then they are moving a player that can score.

Rick Nash is probably out. They may feel that Vesey is good enough of a defensive forward to take on assignments. Not that Vesey will replace Nash, but Vesey can at least out score Nash from last year possibly.

I'm not trying to minimize the player, but the Rangers need to shore up their defense.

I could see a couple of guys moving.

Fast for sure. He'll be wanted by other teams, and the Rangers can afford to pay that "premium".

Package of Nash, Fast, plus, something.

Probably get back a few needs: RHD, Expansion Proof Prospect, Draft picks.

Thank you for the input.

we are normally overloaded with playmakers, everyone looks pass first and no shooters to pass to. so replacing a couple pass first guys with shoot first guys to create more balance should hopefully be a good thing

huge void on the pp with yandle not replaced though

I personally don't see the appeal of Shattenkirk other then him being a local product. Watching him play in the playoffs and seeing Pietrangelo on the same team as him shows how ordinary he is. And he wants 6M per year? I wouldn't even sign him as a UFA at that price. He's a second pairing RD who is worth 4 million. Not worth 5 million just like guys like Staal, Girardi, Roszival, etc. I'd go to war with what we have right now, continue retooling by getting younger and cheaper, not these band aid fixes.

Am I missing something? Vesey wouldn't clear waivers and doubt jooris would either. And if hrvik was ever given a chance he would be a solid 4th liner but probably wont happen here

So vesey and buch is an entry level deal . He won't have to clear but he's on the team likely so whatever

Jooris would have to clear . I think he makes the team w Lindberg hurt anyway but after that I'm not so sure . They do have cap space so could carry 2 extra F

Can we agre gerbe , hrvik , Jensen , glass all clear waivers ?

Pirri is best used just on the PP and in shootouts so he provides maximim value without harming the team 5 on 5. To add to his minutes, he can take some shifts against the other team's 4th line. That's as far as his use should go. It should really be someone like Hayes double-shifted with Grabner/Jooris/Lindberg/Fast/Gerbe for most of the time the 4th line is on. This is once Butcher and Vesey are ready to play top-9.

To start, I suspect Butcher is in Hartford, Lindberg is injured, so its Vesey-Hayes-Fast on the third, Grabner-Jooris-Pirri on the 4th officially, but another player getting double-shifted instead of Pirri on the 4th line.

Nobody dresses a guy as a specialist anymore. He's either in the top 9 or not in the lineup.

AV likes to roll his lines almost never double shifts players. He's going to dress 12 forwards he trusts to go

Buchnevich won't be in Hartford. He wouldn't have come over if that were the case. Something going down for sure.

All i see with this signing is that there is less chance that Glass plays another game as a Ranger.

Before anyone else is traded he needs to go first.

most teams don't try to roll 4 lines like we do...i think you could make the argument that we'd be a better team if our top guys played more minutes at the expense of the 4th line and the key role for those 4th liners is the pk

Oh I agree I think Nash is a much better player at 20 plus mins a game. JT Miller definitely is a better player when his mins are up. We went from one extreme in torts to the complete opposite in AV.

Glass brings something that none of these guys do that AV loves I don't think he's a regular anymore but I think he's our 13th. He's well liked in the room sticks up for teammates. Id be surprised if he were cut honestly.

The ability he brings is the ability to be an anchor on any line he is slotted. There is no hockey value whatsoever to Tanner Glass.
