The best logos are definitely the simple, classic, no deeper understanding required to appreciate but if it's there okay, type. You shouldn't need to understand some overarching history to appreciate it, it should say who you are and what you play for to anyone who sees it or wants to be a fan. Hockey fans in Europe looking for a team to cheer for in the NHL aren't going to want a history lesson to understand what's going on, the running theme here and any other logo ranking I've seen is, simple, recognizable, and classic, no one likes a busy or artistic rendering on their jersey.

Classy, simple, iconic, shields of your team

Busy, picture like, overall just ugly logos, just doesn't give me the feeling of history or class that the other ones do. Buffalo tried going the picture way with the angry goat and the buffaslug and received massive backlash for messing with a good thing. If you're going to replace a classic, it better be with an absolute mastepiece, otherwise fans will hate it, no matter what.

The Kings' logo is anything but clean and simple. The crown design on the bottom has way too much detail and looks like a bad photoshop.

Huh? You're all over the place. In what world are the canes and sabres logo on the same level at all? That's like saying you like clean simple logos, like the leafs and wild

It's his opinion, just like anyone else's in here.

I said I didn't like Montreal's. An unpopular choice I'm sure, but it's just a logo I've never cared for. Hopefully no one loses any sleep over it, because I won't. :dunno:

Coyotes, Preds, Hurricanes and Wild just makes you go wtf where they thinking? Best logos are Hawks, Oilers, Flyers, Red Wings and Penguins probably. I have a soft spot for the Blue Note too. Simpler ones like Habs, Rangers, Leafs are quite alright as well. Isles, Caps, Stars and Sabres, Panthers are quite boring. The rest of them are OK.

I don't like any logo where you have to spell out a team's name on it. If the logo is that forgettable that you have to remind people what it's for, it's failed.

This is one thing I can only rank in tiers

Tier 1: (In no order)
Leafs
Wings
Habs
Blackhawks
Flyers
Sabres

Tier 2
The rest

Tier 3(Worst-tier):
Coyotes
Hurricanes
New Panthers
Sens, they actually had a very nice one before IMO

I never saw the bear in the wild's logo until reading this thread. Wow I feel stupid. Still not crazy about it but now I can't un-see it and I'm wondering how I never saw it until now. :amazed:

The Panthers logo is the best.

TBH 4 of the original 6 logos are pretty stupid. Chicago and Toronto's are cool.

I've always loved SJ's teal/black and the Kings black/purple. The best were the old Arizona and Atlanta logos lol. And of course... I'm a big fan of the Flyers logo. Ottawa isn't bad at all either.

I've never liked the Canucks (mostly colors not logo), and never the Panthers.

I've already posted my best to worst rankings, but to be honest they're all a bit cartoony for my taste, I much prefer soccer crests. Maybe it's just a European thing though.

If Penguins go back to their classic logo from the cup years of the early 90's, I'd have to think that would be one of the best. Chicago and Red Wings are up there too

Worst: Nashville, Dallas, LA

I don't have a problem with any of the logos in the NHL, to be honest, but as a Hurricanes fan, I do prefer

Like I said, nostalgia plays a huge part in this. I'm pretty certain that if the Detroit Red Wings were founded in say, 1997 but kept their same logo someone would complain that it's "too busy" or something along those lines Meanwhile if the Arizona Coyotes were around 40 some years everyone would be like "their logo is the best, it's classic". It's rather amusing to be honest.
