Are the Leafs really that good?

The Leafs are good but 4 goals on 5 shots says a lot more about the opposing defense and goaltending than it does the Leafs.

This particular game is not a great example for sustainable offense, if that’s the point some are trying to make.

Two bad angle, short side goals. A bad angle seeing eye shot. And a bad angle that hit a foot and went in. When things are good, they can be great.

Leafs can sometimes be a one shot offense or a dominant offensive team. It's the former tonight.

Tonight they're playing like trash and are winning on talent, not structure. They have had nearly zero zone time.

Right, but when they underperformed their xGF against NJ significantly, Chicago, Washington, nobody said anything. Things are leveling out.

Things don’t really level out 6 games into the season.

Point is they would even out eventually. They were underperforming their xGF, at some point their actual GF would catch up to their expected. We're going to have to see after the game what their new xGF is but the Leafs have been unlucky far more often than they've been lucky this season.
