Very Ovechkin-esque the way he scored there. So many times Ovy has used the defender as a screen and just done that little toe drag inside to find a lane through the legs and let er rip.

And at the time I posted that, it was 2-1 and the Leafs had 2 shots on goal. Not exactly "Kicking ass." That's just bad goaltending.

This particular game is not a great example for sustainable offense, if that’s the point some are trying to make.

Two bad angle, short side goals. A bad angle seeing eye shot. And a bad angle that hit a foot and went in. When things are good, they can be great.

Tonight they're playing like trash and are winning on talent, not structure. They have had nearly zero zone time.

Point is they would even out eventually. They were underperforming their xGF, at some point their actual GF would catch up to their expected. We're going to have to see after the game what their new xGF is but the Leafs have been unlucky far more often than they've been lucky this season.
