Alzner is a example of poor scouting. Even among stay-at-home Dmen, there are many different flavors of players and it is up to the SCOUTING to report whether play equals reputation. Then, the monkey pulling the trigger himself must also listen to the scouts and not overvalue stay-at-home types because he was a "grinder Dman" who has thin skin and has been traumatized by trash talk such that he cannot accept that bad Dmen should not be paid big bucks....

Stay-at-home Dmen have limited skillsets are only useful in complementing an offensive or two-way Dman ALREADY on the roster. WE HAVE NONE. Petry and Weber are just decent athletes but are in no way are the elevating the amount of offensive opportunities for the players in front of them.

The entire team is playing badly, but it seems strange to blame the guy who has been excellent the 2 1/2 previous seasons he's been here and has good underlying numbers over the guy that's been trending downward before he was here and has been bad while here.

Petry has been failing at covering up for Alzner's inability to keep up with the play or move the puck. Failing badly I might add.

Are you franking serious? Sweet Jebus, Bergevin didn't think paying him twice his value was enough? He had to handcuff his replacement with an unmovable slug of a player and contract as well?

It just gets better and better, doesn't it? This guy is the feather in the shit cap of bad Bergevin signings.

edit: There should be an asterisk on the thread title clarifying that is was not written ironically, although it would certainly appear that way at this point. :thumbu:

I tried to look it up but not sure if it was after the 6th goal. Here's the clip on the 6th goal, the D who is going on his knees appears to be Weber.
