Holtz is not NHL ready. No need to rush him. Let him get used to North American hockey and score a bunch of goals against weaker competition, then let him vie for a spot on the Devils out of camp next year.
I think they'll throw him a bone or two, let him get a taste, but I should rephrase that and say he'll play for both, not just JV.

Lord knows how long that process will be stretched out and then he'll of course have to quarantine, how much left of the AHL season is there?

Final Binghamton game is scheduled for May 16.

Still worth it for Holtz, he should pocket ~$30,000 just for signing his contract.

What's with that 2nd pic? They make it look like he's sad that he's coming over to NJ or something.

They couldn't find a better picture?

Scandinavia vs USA, it's a very different culture. In Europe the big smile with the (very white) teeth showing screams of "USA", and it looks both comical and fake to many of us. The more you go towards eastern Europe the less the smile is prevalent in the culture as well. Most Russians find that big smiles look stupid, but they are not less friendly. Of course, those differences tend to get smaller due to the globalization of our societies and US culture being so dominant.

The article starts talking about how disheartened Holtz is after the loss to Frölunda. Mentions that his first play-off appearance at the men's level was only 3 games long etc. I assume that's when the picture is taken, when he was just eliminated, and that's why he looks so sad.

The last thing we need to do is rush the guy. Yes, we’re dying for a sniper but let’s take our time and do this right.

His full season + playoffs highlights.

I think the nicest thing about the highlights is he isn’t using his wrist shot the same way every time. He had multiple exit angles on his long, sweep release and he was able to do a snap wrist shot when called on.

So it looks like he has multiple tools on his wrist shot and can choose the appropriate one when needed.

I understand that.

But even a picture of him not smiling but having a neutral look would've been better than this devastating look he has.

I'm guessing the media there only take pictures on the ice, not off it.

Anyway, I'm nitpicking for no reason.

I am looking forward to him getting to the U.S. and beginning his acclimation to Hockey and Life here. :)

I have to assume that there is some disagreement between Fitz and Holtz on which ice surface he'll be playing on in Newark. Not sure what else would be delaying the signing of the ELC.

Remember that the contract has to be signed before Holtz can even apply for a work visa. Then once he gets it there's travel an quarantine. He's might be 3 weeks away if he signs today.

I don't get what is taking so long. Maybe Holtz wants a optio to his contract that if he gets send down to AHL next season so he can go rather back to SHL and play there. Boqvist had also that optio in his contract for the first year when he signed with Devils.

I can see Holtz getting a game or two at the end of the season, but not right away. He is too raw defensively to jump right in to the nhl
It’s not like we care at this point if we really suck , or really really suck in the standings if we let him play 3-4 games early . It’s not like he will gain Bergereon level D skills in an extra couple practices

I think he probably just want's Fitz's assurance that he'll be with the big team, and Fitz probably wants to start him off in the AHL and call him up at some point before the season ends.

Agree. Making Ty Smith wait even though he looked perfectly ready during the previous camp possibly helped us avoid a huge issue with his development, had he lost confidence playing in NHL as a teenager. I fully support to keeping him in AHL only for the whole 2021/22 campaign, unless he literally tears apart the opposition at that level.
