Two kids that I like that I mentioned in a previous thread were, Donovan Ott from the Philadelphia Junior Flyers and Chase Harwell from Ct. Wolfpack. Both are big kids lots of skill and can finish. Both have play with an edge as well. Only issue is Harwell had a shoulder issue don't know if that will affect him. Saw that both kids are going to South Kent for the Selects Hockey Academy.

So, what's up with Dallas Miller?
scoutman had him 11th and WEHP had him 7th in the west last July after he played bantam 1 as a underage with the Winnipeg Sharks.
He sounded like a can't-miss prospect:
One player to watch in the bantam 1 all-star contest - and beyond - is Winnipeg Sharks forward Dallas Miller, a 13-year-old who isn't yet eligible for the WHL draft but is lighting up the 14-year-old league nonetheless.

Miller, who will play for Team East on Saturday, leads the Sharks in scoring with 19 goals and 12 assists in 16 games. He is second in the league in goal scoring and sixth in points.

"He can dominate," Sharks assistant coach Jeff Sveinson said. "When he wants to he can absolutely dominate."

Miller already has considerable size and strength - not to mention a decent goatee - that other 13-year-olds can only dream about.

"His legs are enormous," Sveinson said. "Day one of camp last year, we were doing our off-ice stuff, and the bloody calves on the guy . He runs like Fred Flintstone. Bam! Bam! Bam! That's when he was 12!"

Miller was born in Thompson, and his family moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Marathon, Ont., Cranberry Portage and Thompson (again) before settling in Winnipeg two years ago. The Miller clan moved to Winnipeg so Dallas could face tougher competition on the ice and develop his skills.
http://www.winnipegsun.com/sports/hockey/2011/01/05/16775746.html

However, he quit the Sharks for a period of time earlier this season, and now there's this:
An incident involving the alleged abuse of a hockey official in Brandon over the weekend has resulted in the indefinite suspension of a 15-year-old Winnipegger who was picked in this year’s WHL draft.

Darryl Wolski, who runs the Source for Sports AAA Hockey Challenge, has suspended Dallas Miller indefinitely after officials said he slashed a linesman while being escorted off the ice during a hockey game on Sunday morning.

The AAA Hockey Challenge is not sanctioned by Hockey Manitoba or Hockey Canada, but Wolski has asked other summer tournaments to ban Miller from their events as well.
Sunday morning’s game, which was the gold medal match of the 14-15-year-old division, pitted Miller’s Mallard Stars against a team called Can-Am. The incident happened eight minutes into the second period, with Can-Am leading 5-3. Referee Chris Cherepuschak gave Miller a slashing penalty — his third minor penalty of the game — and issued a misconduct after the player said some “inappropriate things.â€

Miller’s verbal abuse continued while he was in the penalty box, so Cherepuschak gave another misconduct to Miller, resulting in a game misconduct. Miller didn’t stop yelling at the officials on his way off the ice, so Cherepuschak gave him an unsportsmanlike penalty as well, thinking the minor would cause Miller to stop since he was leaving his team shorthanded.

The linesman eventually got Miller to do the door leading off the ice, but that’s when officials said Miller slashed him on the side of the leg.
Miller had nine points in 25 games for the Winnipeg Sharks this season in the bantam 1 division of the Winnipeg AAA Hockey League.

The Prince Albert Raiders then picked him in the sixth round, 111th overall, of this year’s WHL draft.

“He’s big, he can skate, he can play. He had some personal issues this past year which limited his ice,†Raiders GM Bruno Campese told paNOW.com earlier this month.

“We did our homework on him before the draft. He’s committed to playing in the WHL. He’s committed to playing wherever. He could be a real pleasant surprise.â€

Sounds like the kid has some real issues.

lol, hey I have a finish player high on the list LOL.....................though now I would have Duchesne dropped out of the 1st round, I could easily see Barzal going 2nd I am thinking he is more skilled than Noel, still no knock against Noel and no he is not falling IMO to people wondering but easilly McDavid number 1 as it stands right now and Barzal and Noel, I think Barzal could be a little more skilled than Noel but both are crazy talented and these will be the big three for the draft as an early look.

I enjoy reading your player evaluations! and re: Noel. It's good to see a kid from Newfoundland being considered so high in the 2015 draft. Anywhere in the top 5 would be the highest a newfoundland kid got picked. (I think) Can't wait until all three combine on Canada's U18 team. Hopefully we'll see it next summer.

Newfoundland hockey is really starting to pick up....currently with Clark Bishop picked 3rd overall in the QMJHL draft and Cody Donaghey picked 1st round in this years QMJHL draft...also next year with Nathan Noel, Andrew Picco, Adam Holwell,

That's cool man!!! Seriously though, the 97 I'm most impressed with is MacDavid. I happened to see him just once play and I was floored by this guy. I haven't seen Noel live or any video highlight packages posted yet (same goes for the B.C. kid - hopefully that will come soon) but if they are even in the same conversation as Macdavid ...then wow. just wow.

I'm really excited to see how McDavid starts to develop - especially wrt to his decision to get exceptional status. On the one hand, he's done himself favours by hitting the OHL a year early, but he has the headache of being with Erie. We'll see how the Otters do...with that said, if they continue to suck, i would not be surprised if he demands a trade during the summer prior to his draft year.

Having watched McDavid a lot - he's unreal...but i'm also really excited to see how Barzal and Noel develop as well.

Does anyone know whether Barzal will actually play for the Thunderbirds? Politics are what they are...but does anyone have a sense whether he's seriously going to play for the team?

It will be interesting to see what Noel does re: Q draft...from my cursory sense, he'll probably end up being #1, no? If he's already at Shattuck, is he going to end up being like Nate and just waiting to end up on a desired team? I can't imagine him just showing up for whoever drafts him - but those in the know shouldn't hesitate to correct me!

3 years prior, McDavid seems like the early #1...but who knows...it's easy to be confident in assessments of 14/15 yr olds. I always figured Noel as right after MacKinnon...but after seeing a bit more of Barzal I don't know anymore...Barzal has this relentless tenacity that you just can't stop watching. and who knows how they all develop - there are never any assurances. of course there are going to be the US/Euro players who, rightly or wrongly (probably wrongly) don't get the immediate hype that Canadian players do.

in nothing else, this is going to be a very exciting draft year to watch develop! :handclap:

Mcdavid should go #1, barzal and noel will be fighting it out for the second spot. Zack werenski should definitely go top 5 and IMO is the best defencemen in this age group. Also I dont see why everyone seems to think duchense has slipped so far. I think he will go top 15 for sure. Lastly blake speers and Travis konecny may be small but both seem to be the real deal. Speers had a 4.51 ppg average last year and konecny scored 97 points in 30 games or somewhere around there.if they both can grow alot in the next couple of years I could see both going top 15 easily. It will be interesting to see how the mentorship cup goes this weekend and who will be the standouts

though a ways to go until the draft...me thinks Mr. Mcdavid will be looking over his shoulder to see Mr. Eichel right on his butt...

Wow, You're that high on Eichel? Have only heard good things about him but that is one serious statement. Psyched to watch him play for NTDP. Haven't seen a kid from New England go that high in a very very very long time. Without further ado, New England players taken in the first round in the last 15 years...

Colin Wilson 7 in 08
Ryan Whitney 5 in 02
Rick Dipetro 1 in 00 :yo: :sarcasm:

Side note: take a look at the '00 draft. it may be the absolute worst draft of all time with the exception of Heatley, Gaborik, Orpik, and Lundqvist, its littered with crap.

...at a minimum...and he's probably going to start speeding from *should* to *will*. still i'm very excited about him/barzal/noel. on top of that it seems like 2014/15 are going to be big GTHL to the NHL drafts.

the toronto-homer in me would love to see McDavid continue to dominate - but at the same time - i'd also love to see barzal and noel make things interesting. for '15 there are other players from the GTHL who i think will end up top 30 (i'm mentioning GTHL just b/c it's what i see most...no disrespect to other leagues re '15).

for the opinions of others...how do you think that McDavid/Barzal/Noel compare to the very top players from previous drafts (from Canada)? IMO...the three of them collectively represent a level of strength collectively at the top that we haven't seen recently. I don't mean in a generic "top 3 from the draft"...i mean in a canadian-sense...it seems like we're seeing the top 3 canadians at the top in quite some time.

as I said a long time to go before we get to the draft, but Eichel is looking like one of the more highend kids this country has produced at forward in some time, no matter the region...hopefully he doesnt fade like some of the others prior have..

I think people have no idea how good he really is as the few people on here that have made some top 30 lists really dont know much about him, but after the selects, I think it is starting to come out bigtime how skilled this kid is....already a bidding war is coming over trying to land this kid between the Q and BU...

whether or not he or McDavid challenges for #1 is pointless at this point as so much can happen between now and then, but primarily just throwing this kids name out there for people to warm up to...Jack Eichel..

lol! we'll see!...i'll believe he's going to BU when he shows up there. he has a late birthday in the same way that Patrick Kane did...meaning, if i'm not mistaken, he can do two years at ntdp and then play for the mooseheads during his draft year? ... much in the same was that kane, given his birthdate, played for ntdp for 2 yrs then hit the knights during his draft year...at which point ntdp won't really care b/c he'll have aged out of it!!!

if i was putting money on it i'd say he'll do ntdp for 2 years and then head to the Q for his draft year.

Barzal will play in the WHL at some point I am not sure with Seattle as that team seems to be going through what Portland went through years ago..ie..no one wanted to go there etc...Need to dump Russ Farwell the GM and move in the same direction that Portland went. No reason for Seattle to be as poor as they have been.

Ryan Gropp the Thunderbirds 1st round pick from 2011 draft did not sign with Seattle and is now going to end up going to Colorado College although there is a history there with is Dad and Uncles going there

I see it going

1. MacDavid= League MVP material
2. Ekblad= Norris winning Defenseman
3. Mckinnon= Point per game player
4. Yak= tops off at 40 goals
