Wow completely forgot about Zyuzin!! Damn, I'm embarassed.
Zyuzin's draft year ended up being terrible. He very well might have been one of the better prospects.

If Strome slips out of the top 5, he isn't getting to 9.
Rantanen would be a great pick. I'd prefer him over Zacha, Barzal, Crouse or Connor, although I'd be really happy with any of them.
Still hoping we land Werenski though.
Source?? Stuart and Rathje were never going to be #1d men let alone studs.
as for Wishart, only by the Sharks org....
Ok not going to argue something so ridiculous. Asking me to provide a source from 1998 and 1992 is just stupid (no offense). Both were projected as #1 d-men in their upside. You're being near sighted and most likely letting hindsight influence your opinion.
I really like Provorov and will be happy with him in Teal, but to say we've never draft a d-man who had #1 upside is absurd...end conversation.
I'd be fine with Rantanen. I wouldn't be stoked but it would be a fine pick.
Pretty much how I feel & it's not at all surprising that the orgs is high on him. He's one of the older players in this draft & needs to work a bit on his skating but he's another that could potentially step right into the NHL.
Also, about that whole targeting the right players thing...seems that may still be a bit if an issue with this club!

There were a few players around that could fall to the ninth spot, though, where San Jose is set to choose. Forwards Lawson Crouse and Mikka Rantanen, and goalie Mackenzie Blackwood have all spoken with San Jose. Rantanen had a follow-up interview on Thursday.

Kurz with words from a few prospects about being drafted by Sharks

Bieksa deal might see Sharks and Canucks swap 1st round picks.
And it was debunked on twitter before Curtis even posted that.
Yet the Merc tweeted it again about an hour ago.
So? There is nothing in that article to suggest that's what the deal is. I'm sure Benning would like the #9 pick but don't you think DW would demand Horvat in exchange? Remember that Horvat isn't Bennings pick so he may be willing to part with him moreso than Virtanen.
What roster player would it take to exchange 5OA with our 9th so we could draft Provorov? Wingels? Is it worth it?
