So you think the Leafs are happy with his play and, despite feeling the cap crunch, are totally willing to bring him back again next season?

Leafs management? Yes. Leafs coach. Absolutely.

Leaf fans.... not really

I don’t want Zaitsev, but if it means the end of Cody Ceci’s time in Ottawa, that might be ok.

Would Toronto retain on Zaitsev? 3.5 per year for the next five years is better than 4.5 for 5 years.
Nope

Why are you lying? The Leafs aren’t starved to get rid of him, he requested a trade. He doesn’t want to be used as strictly a shutdown d man only playing in defensive situations.

You only make yourself look foolish by making things up.

I dont think they mind getting rid of that fat contract....but probably a little bit less now after the Marleau deal.

You realize they need players to play for their team next year, right?

Zaitsev requested a trade or he wouldn’t be on the market.

I wonder what caused Dreger to tweet this random, very useless tweet?

Like what spurned this on?

Like what was he doing or what did he hear at 2pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon that caused him to log on his phone and make this really useless tweet? Did he hear something? Was he told something? Was he cutting his grass and received a text from someone?

It's so random and offers nothing really. Just find these spur of the moment tweets funny

An available RHD in a market where half the league is looking to add a RHD and still they cant seem to move him. Huh.

"Asked for a trade" or no, if there wasn't another issue there wouldn't be any shortage of available landing spots for him. The problem is he's overpaid, in a year when the cap went up less than expected so cap space is at a premium.

Or Dubas is not taking the first offer and trying to get more value.

Or wants to see if he can change Zaitsev's mind to get him to stay.

Oh really? I'd like to see that....

Johnson is paid 3.2 mil for the next 4 seasons to be an awful Dman.

Zaitsev is paid 4.5 mil for the next 5 seasons to be an awful Dman.

Yah....JJ is easier to trade. He's 1.2 mil cheaper and both players are of same calibre.

except clearly Maatta got value back because he wasn't a press box Dman.

Unlike Zaitsev. wish the leafs well in figuring out how to dump a #6D paid 4.5 mil on a team.
 Why are you lying? Trying to convince others who know more about this topic is a poor use of your time.

You call him a press box player yet he was matched against the Bergeron line last time we saw him, and he did pretty well.

But hey, don’t let the truth get in the way!

Totally agree. Him staying is not the worst thing in the world imo

Zaitsev is an adequate 4th defenseman in the right situation.
