With Slaf, too much emphasis on size, with Hutson, not enough emphasis on size. For all his talent, we still don't know if Hutson will end up physically strong enough to be a complete D at the NHL level. People are pointing out all kinds of weaknesses for other prospects, but in the case of Hustson the glaring one is overlooked by too many.
We’re enjoying an awesome prospect with elite talent. He adjusted everywhere he played. For the size, we’ll see when he is ready to turn pro, for now he has still many room to grow and get stronger before we talk about that.

Yeah agree. I'm joking. Just wanted to said that Lane Hutson is such a steal at 62. Can't still believe that!

If Hutson was 6'4" 235 he'd be the best player in the history of hockey.

I would have Heineman and Tuch instead of Guindon and Simoneau. Also I think Mailloux should be at 3.

I'm very surprised Heineman didn't make the cut, he deserves a spot in the top 10.

Heineman should be considering a top 10 prospect. So much better than Mysak.

Mailloux should be higher than Mesar... the rest is very good.

Can't wait for this draft to inject some high end potential...Not a bad list, good depth but we are missing 2-3guys with star potential,

This is my list. I am not high on Kidney, and lukewarm on Heineman. Dobes excites me. Engstrom is under-rated by some. Mesar over-rated.

I have:
- Heineman at least above Kidney.
- mysak not making the cut
- Struble does
- Dobes higher
- At this point Roy above Mesar, but that can change.
- And I have Mailloux number 1, even though he's a huge wild card.

Why would someone rate Mesar above Roy and Mailloux above Barron.

What does Montreal's top 10 prospect list look like? I am guessing it's changed a lot since the start of this year.

If we don't include any of the prospects that have played a large number of games in the nhl this season (Slafkovsky, Guhle, Barron, Harris, Xhekaj, RHP, Ylonen), I have this:

1. Hutson
2. Farrell
3. Mailloux
4. Roy
5. Beck
6. Engstrom
7. Heineman
8. Kidney
9. Mesar
10. Dobes

If you graduate everyone who is on the NHL roster for majority of the season or injured off the NHL roster? It'd change a lot because Xhekaj, Harris, Guhle and Slaf have all graduated.

Graduated: Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Juraj Slafkovsky, Arber Xhekaj, and Jesse Ylonen.

  1. Lane Hutson
  2. Sean Farrell
  3. Owen Beck
  4. Joshua Roy
  5. Emil Heineman
  6. Adam Engstrom
  7. Logan Mailloux
  8. Filip Mesar

Think you'd have a lot of different opinions on how they rank, but the top-10 is likely close to the same as the start of the year. Mine would be:

1) Hutson
2) Roy
3) Farrell
4) Kidney
5) Heineman
6) Engstrom
7) Mailloux
8) Beck
9) Dobes
10) Mesar

You seem quite high on Beck, relative to other lists out there. I'll be honest, I don't have the time to watch CHL games, but from a production standpoint I have hard time understanding what makes him superior to the likes of Roy and Engstrom, though I fully understand there's always more to a prospect than stats. That being the case, care to elaborate on your evaluation of Beck?

I think you just throw away the weeks in Peterborough where he wasn't productive and call it an adjustment period. Outside of that, he was creating offense in training camp.. he was producing at a high clip at Mississauga, made it on to the WJC after an injury and looked great in limited opportunity, and has found his offensive touch more toward the end of his stay in Peterborough.

He's got pro habits, he's high end player defensively and he's got the tools to bring offense at the NHL level. You're looking at such a strong and stable floor with enough intrigue on the upside part of things.

I'm weighing the certainty of the player with the perceived upside. Others may go for full upside in which case, Joshua Roy makes sense to be placed higher.

Look at his first NHL game, he already show a mature pro game. He is ready to play at NHL. This guy is Danault 2.0 but more fun to watch at offensive zone. Beck is a stud. He isn't a another Poehling, he will be a very important player for Habs, like Heineman. I really both, they have high potential to become important forward.
