Trading yak makes no sense right now. The return would be pretty useless.

maroon McDavid yak

This combo should be tried to start the year. Opposing teams will likely matchup thier best d against McDavid regardless of his linemates, and this line should still be able to produce.

That would leave
Hall draisaitl kassian/pak
Pouliot rnh eberle

These combos have had success in the past. One of these lines goes up against bottom pairing D.

This too is accurate. But it was a smaller amount and maybe 10-20% of posters preferring Murray. Anybody that was saying Murray was getting pounded on the head with 10 post rebuttals anytime Murray was suggested. Most posters wouldn't even consider Murray as a selection.

There was this notion too that as much as oilers fans have struggled that we at least deserve entertaining players and with it thought that Yak would be entertaining.

The knock against Murray was that he wasn't even the consensus best defenseman in the draft (which, so far, is looking like it ended up being true).

It was consensus #1 on every list in Yakupov vs. a whole crapshoot of defensemen and another forward who had missed most of his draft season. Would be nice to build a time machine and take Rielly, but oh well. They went with by far the safest pick and it still fell through.

The Oilers trading Hall to Montreal for the privilege of letting the Habs off the hook for their poor handling of PK going all the way back to the forced bridge deal would be the most Oilersy thing they could do.

Getting an actual #1D would in fact be the most anti-Oilers thing they could do.

Maybe. I dunno though, PK just seems like the kind of D-man that only works in the eastern conference. Not enough room in the west for him to do his "spinoramas".

We are in NO position to question a #1Dman coming here unless you want to wander in the wilderness for another bloody decade.

I don't believe this for even a fraction of a second but if this is the trade it took Chiarelli would win GM of the millennium.

lol... you sniffed out the BS ...Congrats!! (I made that rumour up:)
BUT...can you imagine somehow getting P.K from the habs!? That would be a game changer IMO. P.K in his prime on the backend combined with that offense!?!. #stanleyCupBaby!!!

So what would Habs ask in return? (If they are even contemplating trading P.K which is highly doubtfull!)

Holy helicopter line! Talk about under serving McD.

Everyone knows that draft year was crap. He scored 8 freaking goals this year, less than Letestu and Korpikoski. A 2nd is probably what he's worth.
Yes 8 goals is now his peak it has been established by Great Keith bad injury and all last season. Anyways I won't ague with you in here from your post history it's better to move on then circle jerk with you.

Rishaug and his hate for Yak showing on twitter today saying he is worth a 3rd lol

Rishaug can be very unprofessional. Not sure what his deal is. Maybe Cox getting on HNIC is setting a new example for how media guys need to act to make it to the big show? Thanks a lot Rogers.

He has yet to hit 40 points in a season (something the much maligned Sam Gagner has already done) or 20 goals. For a #1 overall pick that's not good enough. A goal scoring winger that doesn't score goals doesn't have much value. It really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

getting not much offensively from Yak has hurt this franchise for years and if we keep our #4 pick we can't have another dud pick!

You know what's hurt this team, horrible management, bad coaching and turnover, continually putting kids in bad spots and then scapegoating them, media agendas and an embarrassment on the blueline for almost a decade with no end in sight. But yes, it's Yak's fault and this 4th pick should make or break the franchise after drafting first overall 4 times.

Convince him to stay. Give him playing time with a capable center (i.e. not Letestu) and see what happens. Worst case scenario is he continues to bust and we lose him for nothing.

A 3rd round pick is effectively nothing anyways.
