11 points in 20 games after the trade deadline, changed team dynamic significantly. Forgettable playoffs but same can be said about 90% of the roster.

Cap hit is low for a guy of his pedigree, he should still be effective at 34. Also this contract should be easily movable, even if they decide to move him 2 years from now they can probably get a 4th rounder back at least for cheap role-playing vets. MacLellan has been able to move every contract that stood in the way so far when he needed to.

Good signing unless they had a shot at a star player and needed every penny of cap space. Would have rather it be 2.5 like Kempny and Jensen but Hagelin does have one of the best resumes in the League for a role player

Hagelin does an awful lot of little things they don't really keep stats on that help you win games. With Gudas and Wilson on the same squad, you don't want to start letting premiere pk guys walk away, you're probably going to need them.

Really wanted to get him back for the Pens.

Very non existent regular season player, but come playoffs, hagelin is a very valuable player when the space gets tightended and his speed suffocates the opposing team. not by accident that he has the most playoff games played since he entered the league iirc

Both are fast but they are very different as well. Grabner scores 30 goals when he is on, Hagelin has never scored 20 goals. Grabner creates offense all by himself, Hagelin doesnt. Agree both will have jobs in the NHL as long as they can skate the way they do though.

rather have hagelin than grabner for a playoff run

Damn, that's a solid deal for the Capitals. Based on what guys like Roussel and Komarov got last year, that's an even better contract. I wonder if he got some sort of NTC as a part of this deal.

Brutal contract.

I wouldn't give him more than 1.5 for 2 years.

No offense, but appear to be a Kings fan. The Kings, the style of hockey they play, had no business getting Carl Hagelin. He was useless in their system. Completely the opposite for the Capitals. He plugged straight in. He played on the 2nd 3rd and 4th lines. He played 4 on 4 and played 1st pk. He had 11pts after the trade deadline.
