I believe that was actually a second off from being tied for the lowest TOI game of Ovechkin's career (aside from games involving an injury or ejection). He had 13:53 in the fifth game of his career and even under Hunter he didn't dip that low. (Apparently that game was also one Mike Green's NHL debut.) Trotz IMO intentionally left him on the bench with a two-goal lead, empty-net situation and it had to be because of his defense on the first goal 4-on-4.
On the season, coming into this one he was a minute and a half below his career-low average TOI season and almost three minutes below his career average.
