Most of the American players seem like they just want to get this tournament over with.

Team USA needs to get rid of the Therien hands and start passing better for starters.

First period's over. Pretty sloppy hockey game all around. Russia comes up early with a goal, which is good for them. USA seems to be too nervous, having trouble sometimes keeping the puck in the Russian zone. For the second period, they need to relax, make easy passes, and get some quality shots on net. The goals, they will follow. Nothing is over.

They have no chemistry.

Why not give Schremp some damn PP time. Why even select him to the team if your not going to use him? Why not put him on with Kessel and Oshie when the period starts again? Put Bourque and EJ on the point.

Oshie draws a penalty..he's been the best player for the Americans in this tournament..
Oshie is gold.
He gets my vote as USA's best forward in the tourney.
Maybe best player, too, although both E. Johnson and Schneider deserve kudos.

I've noticed that, too. Schremp is lethal on the PP, and they put him on the second unit. What's up with that?

The US seems very tentative in the Russian zone, I think the Russian's physical play has more to do with it than playing last night.

That's also a good point Flin, the Russian team has been making hits at key points. Perhaps is a combination of that, nervousness, and fatigue. Hopefully, the USA team fixes that in the next 40 minutes.

Hasn't Schremp been playing with Mueller and Fritsche on the 2nd line for most of the tournament? Hasn't that Bourque-Kessel-Oshie line been very successful for the US (Kessel IS the leading scorer of the WJCs so far and Bourque IS the leading goal scorer of the WJCs so far)? Why make a big shift in either?

You'd think someone labled a 'powerplay specialist' would see most of the time on it...you know, since he doesn't play even strength.

Fourth game in five nights. US put themselves in this position. Not watching game but I wouldn't be surprised by what you guys have been posting - with the Ruskies physical play - that the US might be toast unless they get a ton of PP

That argument might hold a tiny bit of water IF this had not been happening the ENTIRE tournament. :shakehead

True, I am sick of these classless idiots. But that is the typical anti-American mentality in Canada these days. Pathetic.

US need to get their game together - this is the poorest I've seen them so far this tourney. They can play better than this. First game I've seen of the Russians - man they're playing well. Much more physical than I expected. Going to be very tough to beat with that fire-power. Schneider has to stand on his head for the rest of the game and the US top line has to get it's act together...

The booing is tasteless. What an embarassment. Johnson's elbow was tasteless, but enough is enough.

And why did they keep Davis and Paukovich out for the last 0:14 on the PP with the face-off in Russia's zone??? Yeah, it's only 0:14 but still a goal there or even a good chance would've really helped the USA's confidence heading into the dressing room.

I believe so, but I'm just talking about PP units. Shouldn't a guy who is supposed
to be a power play specialist get some legit time when the team is on the PP?

Russia more than in control of the game so far, even with the penalties (2 of which were prolly refs late xmas gifts to the US). Still only 1-0 though. Could go both ways.

Good to know their are some classy Vancouver fans out there...the display of Anti Americanism is sickening by the Van fans..........mayby when Canada has to dig itself out of the debris of a coming terrorist attack and the Americans rescue our asses again, then mayby the braindead Anti Americanism in Canada will end!!!

Please American friends, a lot of us up here appreciate you and what you are doing!! Never forget that.....

And what exactly is wrong with that anyway?
The poster claimed that the booing was due to the retaliatory hit on Downie from Johnson, what I am saying is that is not the reason at all. The declasse Vancouver "fans" have been booing the USA the whole tourney.

Schremp is known to play the full 2:00 on the PP for London, he needs a speedy player on his line to get the puck into the zone where he can set-up on the RW half boards. Is this so difficult to figure out Kyle??? I don't see why he can't be on Kessel's RW at least for the damn PP. Or why Ryan can't be paired with him on the PP.

This post is just... :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

I'm ashamed of to be from the same country as people who call a little booing "classless idiocy". I suppose you've never been to a Calgary-Edmonton game. This is just apalling now, the amount of attention fans who pay good money choosing to boo at a hockey game has gotten. Apalling. They are not the ones who are shameful.

These "classless" fans cheered the American anthem in the last game but no one noticed that. Sorry, I've been to three games in this WJC and in each of them I've cheered and booed who I have wanted. It's my ****ing perogative.
