Since there is no Laine thread, I'll ask the question here. Who is the youngest player to reach 100 career NHL goals? I have only been able find lists for the fewest games played to reach 100.

Hawerchuk is another April born 18 year old rookie who reached 100 goals very fast.

I distinctly remember Lindstrom scoring those 5 goals against Philadelphia. In fact I once won a pair of tickets to a Jets game based on that being a trivia question on CBC late night sports with Ernie Nairn. I kept a scrapbook of all the Jets games for their last 2 seasons in the WHA and their first few seasons in the NHL. The game summary with Lindstrom scoring those 5 goals was in my scrapbook.

On a side note related to your post, I sure hope we don't have to read comments from some posters stating that those previous records by Lindstrom and Zhamnov belong to the Coyotes and our history is that of the Thrashers.

Gretzky hit 100 goals in his 145th NHL game I believe. That would've been March of 1981? He would've been about 20 years and 2 months...wait...does that included playoffs?

I've always felt that we should honor the Thrashers organization at some point as a good will gesture to the Atlanta fans. Do an Atlanta game night where we play Calgary and both teams wear the old jerseys. Is that too tacky? One game in Wpg and the next one in Calgary. Or even do one in Atlanta.

I kinda like the idea of a game between the Jets and Flames in Atlanta with throwbacks but I wouldn't want to hurt/ insult the Atlanta fanbase. They really shouldn't have lost this team in the first place.

We should have gotten the Coyotes back, and the NHL should have put a quarter of the effort to keep the Thrashers in Atlanta that they have keeping Phoenix in the desert.

Atlanta just needed a decent owner who wasn't a moron.

Hard to believe that by next season the new Jets will already account for more than 1/3 of the entire Jets' NHL history in Winnipeg. They've already been around longer than the WHA Jets.

Time sure flew by. We waited 15 years for the NHL to return to Winnipeg (which seemed to take forever at the time) and here we are now with the Jets in their 8th season! Not only is it sweet having them back but to also have such a good team now makes the wait seem worthwhile. True North had a plan which they stuck by and have made us proud of our team.

I saw this on twitter about the Jets 30 game win less streak when I was in elementary school.

It makes me appreciate our current success even more.

Sadly, our records are that of the Atlanta Thrashers. Just like we don't consider the Winnipeg Jets WHA records valid, I don't feel the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 records should be valid as this incarnation is a different entity.

Winnipeg Jets records are so vastly skewed because they loved to move their top talent. It is amazing that Steen and Hawerchuk lasted so long in Winnipeg. John Ferguson loved to move talented players for draft picks. They moved McLean for Ashton, Babych for Neufeld, Christian for the 14th pick in the draft, Brian Mullen for a 3rd and 5th rounder. Sadly our worst trade hypothetically was dealing our 3rd round pick in 1984 for Robert Picard. The player Montreal chose was Patrick Roy.

Lots of the goaltenders the Jets had were subpar. It is debatable who the best goaltender the NHL Jets had pre Bob Essensa.

A game that I will always remember was from the 79/80 season - Flyers had only lost 2 games and just had their 35 game unbeaten streak broken - They were 26-2-10 at the time. Jets were 12-25 and 5 at the time. It was Jan 10/1980. I was listening on the radio while skating at an outdoor rink. Jets led 2-0 after 1 and 2-1 after 2 and took a 3-1 lead early in the 3rd which they held until less than 10 minuted to go. Blew the lead, fought back to tie it at 4-4 and lost. After reading the box score all these years later, Pierre Hamel had made 27 saves on 28 shots in 46+ minutes of play. He must have left due to injury as I don't recall this - suitcase "Smith" made 10 saves on 14 shots in 12+ minutes of play. I have never forgotten this game. Jets would only win 8 more games the entire season to finish at 20–49–11.
