My ideal trade would be 30th+svech+Jensen+ 2 3rd round picks for Faulk

This way we get Faulk but also shed a d-man allowing us to bring up potentially both hickets and Hronek

Daley-Faulk
Dekeyser-Hronek
Kronwall-hickets

Big E

Big E and Daley are going to play together next year. Ericsson certainly isn't riding the pine for Hicketts.

If this team doesn't draft elite talent, it won't matter what shrewd little choices they make assembling the roster. There's no excuse for abandoning the rebuild by trading for established, non-ELC NHL players.

Now if they don't trade a first rounder, I can work with that. But other teams seem to value Detroit assets pretty poorly for the most part.

Really? I thought we did really well with the returns on Smith & Tatar. If anything I would say that teams over value our assets.

In hindsight, there should be a half dozen prospects at 36 this year that I'd rather have than Smith. That's the trade that ages like a fine wine.

Detroit
do not trade Nyquist for him

nyquist in feb at the deadline as an upcoming UFA will easily be worth a late 1st in 2019 and that's the ONLY approach we should take with him

AA plus Ottawa's 2nd plus Daley
or
AA plus Svech plus Phillys 3rd

otherwise forget about it

Hmm, I definitely don't agree with this. Faulk >>>> Late 1st in 2019.

Faulk has broke 40 points once in his careeer, and is trash defensively, never understood the hype.

Trading considerable futures for him when we aren't even close to competitive would be beyond dumb, but typical Holland anti-rebuild/Win now move.

This is a move you make in 3 years, when the team is ready to compete. It's nice that Faulk is 26, but I don't think he's a good enough player to lose the number of assets it would take to get him. Hard pass.

Pick #30 and AA would be a pretty good deal for a 40 pts, 26 year old RHD.

The year he cracked 49pts, he was the team's 2nd leading scorer after Staal, he's better than Green is now and younger.

Would I like to add Faulk?

Yes, but he is a second pairing PP specialist with defensive issues and 2 years left on his contract. I feel most of the proposals in here are pushing the upper limits of what I would be willing to pay.

I think they'd ask for Svech. I would be comfortable doing 30th pick + Svech. Maybe throw in a 3rd, or a B-list prospect if they need a bit more.

There's a huge drop-off from AA to Svechnikov, so a 3rd would be the add, at minimum.

Wouldn't mind Faulk. I have had him paired with DeKeyser on some keeper league for years. :D

This Faulk-rumor could tell about Red Wings real plans. They want to draft a skill forward and trade something else for a proven defenceman. A short-term fix.

Trade Evgeny Svechnikov+30th, draft Kotkaniemi/Wahlstrom, and add Faulk.

Totally fine with me.

We need to get an experienced defenceman to replace one or both of Ericsson/Kronwall, since they are A) Injury prone B) One good hit/tweak away from LTI-Retirement

Vomit.

Take an 18 year old D-man that's gonna be around and not old when the team is actually good again.

Yeah, I'd be fine with seeing what is available via free agency after next year's draft. Right now we are not a good hockey club and will not be good during the final two years of his contract so throwing away assets seems counter productive. I've supported going after guys like Bouwmeester, Tyler Myers, etc back when we were actually still a decent team. We're obviously really bad right now so I'm not sure I see the point in sending assets away and potentially worsening our draft position so we can miss the playoffs by like 15 points rather than 25 points.

Get a d-man with the #6 pick , potentially draft Jack Hughes next year. and then see which d-men are available as free agents next summer.
