He didn’t ask for 7+ mil. It was 6.5mil and if arbitration decides it’s a short term contract.

He only asked for 1.33mil more than Wilson who had 69 points in 313 games prior to last season who then put up 35 points. Karlsson hit 43 goals.

He’s well worth 6.5 mil. Only Ovechkin and Laine scored more goals than him last season.

I don't know how you can straight-faced say a guy is worth 3.5 mil after 40 goals. I get the lowball offers for arbitration but even if you truly believe the guy is a one hit wonder, it's a 1-2 year gamble at most. Pay the guy for a single season because he gave you an elite single season.

Yeah the problem is that Karlsson is probably looking for that number over 6 years. A one or two year arbitration deal? Yeah, he’ll probably get like 5.5ish or so, but he shouldn’t be given that figure on a long term contract after one season.

Are you actually serious. Stone has averaged over 0.8 PPG his whole career. Karlsson's best season prior to this one was 25 points in 81 games (6 goals), and despite shooting at 23.4% (a 3x jump from last year), he still had a worse ppg than Mark Stone and a marginally better GPG. People here are ridiculous, saying Stone isn't worth more than 7 but that Karlsson is undervaluing himself at 7 coming off an incomprehensible and likely unsustainable rise to "superstardom".

Yeah, playing with 3rd and 4th liners... Last year he was the #1C on the best team in the west and excelled in the role. His shooting% was high for sure, but when it normalizes he is still a 25+ goal guy who nearly put up a PPG last season and was excellent defensively.

Last thing Vegas wants is to sign an 6Mx8 and Karlsson struggles to crack 20
