It was a joke. Stokes is trying to say that there's no way both Sam's go before Draisaitl. They'll likely be long gone

Apparently he looked absolutely lost and in over his head when Laughton wasn't drawing defensive duties.I feel like I've been hearing Dal Colle's name less and less as the season goes on. Did he trail off or did those behind him start elevating their games?

i would draft bennet and ehlers even if it was pick 1 n 2
both will be perenial all-stars
If the 5 year averaging thing goes into effect, the Isles are never gonna defer. They know they're likely getting a top five pick next year with that rule in place.
Say hello to Reinhart and Dal Colle if that rule goes into effect.
I can't see any way the Islanders don't keep the pick this year and give us next year's. NHL teams don't assume they're going to suck a full year in advance, especially in advance of free agency. They're going to have a top ten pick and they're going to use it.
top five pick
Which is still inside the top ten. Which is what matters for their right to defer. Which they will use.
Rumoured lottery changes, insanely good draft next year, Isles likely don't improve.
I can hope for something like this.
1.- Aaron Ekblad
2.- Sam Reinhart
3.- Michael Dal Colle
4.- Sam Bennett
5.- Leon Draisaitl
Think the whole discussion is moot. The Isles aren't giving us this year's pick.
I don't think they would have specifically negotiated top 10 protection into the deal if they didn't intend to use it.
If Dal Colle is still on the board with NYI's pick you take him. If not, I want Ehlers.
I don't think we're taking Draisatl unless we somehow miss out on Reinhart/Bennett (Which isn't happening) and the highly ranked wingers are off the board as well.
