Who, quietly, had a very impressive season?

Dahlin. Fantastic rookie season for a defensemen. If he played on a better team or was canadian he would be talked about every day on this board. Buffalo have an amazing player in him already, he does everything at a top level.

Btw i just hope NYR can get an elite talent on their roster soon. Makes everything more fun when you have that top player/talent on your team and its been a long time since we had that. Im jealous of all the teams with elite forwards/defensemen....

You really don't know what quietly means do you? The #1 pick and a Calder race leader (in a hockey mad market) all year does not do anything quietly.

Not a lot of chatter about Anthony Cirelli, understandably due to who he plays behind. 19 goals, 39 points as a rookie with practically zero PP time. Leads all forwards in the NHL in shorthand time on ice on the #1 PK in the league. And seems to piss off the other team on a nightly basis.

Yup - I think we found another stud in the third round.

Erik Gustaffson easily has the most surprising statline of 2018-2019.

17-43-60 in 79 games.
Gustafson does not belong here. Everyone who watches and roots for Blawkhawks knows he is power play specialist but total defensive liability in his own end and as its best 6th/7th defenseman on a decent team.

Alex Edler 10 goals and 34 pts in 55 games. Had he played a full season would have had a career year.

It's funny how he's starting to become the defenseman we wished he had become 7-8 years ago in his 30's.

Shea weber missed nearly a calendar year after surgery, came back mid season with no training camp, and did not miss a beat whatsoever.

33 points in 58 games. Extrapolated over a full season, he was looking at 21 goals, despite a non existent power play.

These numbers are typically right in Weber's wheelhouse, but the quiet element was that he had seemingly no rust issues after that massive layoff.

For the Flames Rasmus Andersson has quietly had a very solid rookie season. 5th in rookie scoring for defenseman averaging the least TOI of anyone in the top 10. Really like his offensive instincts, and has been pretty decent in his own zone too. He likes to mix it up a bit in scrums and has laid some big hits. Moves really well for a guy his size.

Around the league Huberdeau, Teravainen, Hertl, Meier, Tatar are all good answers. Toews and OEL had good years. Guentzel scoring 40 goals kind of blows my mind tbh, did not see that kind of progression with him.

Not as impressive offensively as the rest, but if you watched Lindell play in 2016/17 and then watched him play this year you wouldn’t believe that they were the same player. He is far more offensive now (11G, 32P), plays physically, great shut down defence. He stepped it up offensively while Klingberg was out. Like I said 32P is not overly impressive, but everyone besides him, Seguin, and Radulov had down years offensively.
