yeah it's a lot of points, but like you said, even as a playmaker, 3 goals in 17 games in the playoffs when you're a leader...idk. but i meant mostly from just watching him. i thought he seemed a bit too passive. then maybe my memory is foggy. i thought scheifele impacted the game much more, and the jets were benefitted a lot from their depth players in the first 2 rounds. as soon as the depth guys cooled down a bit, it seems they struggled to score, and they were ousted in 5.
17 games is such a small sample size to use and he was literally a goal or two shy of his regular goal scoring pace. He wasn't amazing in the playoffs but his performance certainly wasn't something to call him out for.

Morgan Rielly on the Leafs has improved a ton and has been great in nearly all situations. If he could shoot more/improve his shot he could get 10 or so goals easily.

On the Sens, Bobby Ryan isn't terrible, but he just won't adjust his gloves and he falls a lot. When he's upright he brings a good amount of energy and a good 30-40 points per season. And he likes puppies.

You're right... No one ever talks about the best defensemen on the team from the league's biggest market.

I always thoguht his name was Ned Ryerson

If anything Rielly is overrated. He is Jack Johnson's clone. Negative player ever year in the NHL, come out behind in all 5v5 matchups.
Only potted 52 due to tripling his average production on the PP which was an anomaly and will drop.
Any Dman that is a negative on a top 5 team playing top pairing minutes is not good in there own zone. +/- is pretty bad stat but is great comparing teammates and line mates and 5v5 Rielly comes up behind on all matchups including in the playoffs, not something a top end team needs.
LOL what? We told everyone for 2 years his low point total was due to abysmally low PP time. Now you criticize him only getting 52. He won't get less PP time. This is who he is. He also plays monster minutes Jack Johnson never has in his career in terms of QOC.
And +/-, Jack Johnson? What?

Jack Johnson known for being a - pretty much every year in the NHL like Rielly.

Rielly had 2:10 pp time this year. Two years ago 1:50

No one cares about +/- or takes it seriously anymore. It's useless. Rielly is the #1 on a 105 point team and he's been top 5 in the entire NHL in QOC. Johnson's never hit anywhere close to 50 points.
You are underrating Rielly. Johnson is not in his league. Johnson would be destroyed playing against Rielly's competition.

I am talking about QOC, not overall minutes. Morgan Rielly is top 5 the pat 2 years. Your boy Jack has to play a sheltered role because his D is so poor.
Maybe you are making Leaf fans look bad by saying crap like Jack Johnson=Morgan Rielly and talking about +/- like it's the gospel. What year is this, 1985?

Going to go completely off the board here and say Jake DeBrusk. Was really impressed with him in the playoffs and in the regular season, he reminds me of a more mobile and more capable goalscoring version of Milan Lucic. Wasn't afraid to go to the dirty areas and put himself about really well. He's going to be some player!

I am going to throw a little love St Louis' way. Vince Dunn. One of the most quiet, good rookie years that practically no one knows about. Great pick he was at #56 by the Blues.

Not really applicable for the thread IMO maybe in the media but not on here. He is always talked about in threads about upcoming D and is always brought up whenever Dermott is mentioned.

Trying to add some new names.

Joe Pavelski - Guy is a captain of a perennial playoff team and usually hits 30~ish goals and 70~ish points.

Clayton Keller - he was 3rd in the Calder race last season, but you only hear about Barzal and Boeser. He's in the mould of P.Kane, Marner, and Gaudreau. But he's almost invisible playing in Arizona.

Jason Zucker - Just put together a 30+ goal season. He's like JVR except he plays better in his own end. He outscored JVR and Evander Kane by 10 points last season. But a player changing teams gets huge media attention, where as a guy staying in Minnesota isn't a story.

Ryan Getzlaf - Used to see his name everywhere, but not so much anymore. Perry is on the decline, so maybe some people assume Getz is too? Might surprise some to hear he was over point-per-game last season. He's consistent and a workhorse, yet gets no attention anymore.
