I would have said Barkov but 50% of the post's here already mentioned him.

Sebastian Aho, the Finnish one doesn't get talked about enough imo.
Which means Barkov gets more than enough love. He's become overrated at this point, especially on these boards

Over the last 100 games, as in - if each player were to be compared on the points they scored during their own last 100 games played, here are the top scorers in the league:

1. McDavid, 136
2. Marchand, 130
3. Malkin, 127
4. Kucherov, 124
5. Giroux, 116
6. Wheeler, 112
7. Crosby, 110
8. Gaudreau, 109
9. Getzlaf, 108
10. Kopitar, 106 (tie)
10. Scheifele, 106 (tie)

Somehow it feels like most of these players don't get the recognition they deserve.

It seems like unless you're watching a Jets game, you don't hear about Wheeler/Scheifele much. It's all usually Laine talk. Malkin everybody knows is elite, but he definitely doesn't get as much talk because it's usually all about Crosby.

I hear about the rest of those guys all the time though. Getzlaf not as much as a few years ago. Kopitar is maybe a little more lowkey, but I definitely hear about him a lot over the years and he's one of my favourites.

These are all stars or superstars. Getzlaf is underhyped.

Extend to 20 players please? I like this method.

Actually my bad, missed a couple players, here is the top 20:

1. McDavid, 136
2. Marchand, 130
3. Malkin, 127
4. Kucherov, 124
5. Giroux, 116
6. MacKinnon, 115
7. Wheeler, 112
8. Crosby, 110
9. Gaudreau, 109
10. Getzlaf, 108

11. Hall, 106 (tie)
11. Kopitar, 106 (tie)
11. Scheifele, 106 (tie)
11. Ovechkin, 106 (tie)
15. Kessel, 104
16. Tavares, 103 (tie)
16. Matthews, 103 (tie)
18. Eichel, 102
19. Panarin, 101 (tie)
19. Bergeron, 101 (tie)

(I've bolded those I think aren't talked about as much as they should be.)

Marchand: He's second act has been one of the greatest late career blossomings in NHL history.
Giroux: I feel like he is always being forgotten.
Wheeler: Maybe it's because I'm on the west coast but the Jets stars fly under the radar.
Gaudreau: Homer opinion perhaps, but he's still not fully respected as a top ten forward
Getzlaf: Surprising how consistently elite he's been.
Scheifele: Diddo as Wheeler

But if it's the best player that no one talks about, I dunno, Scheifele I guess?

I can't get behind anyone putting any star player as the best player who is the least talked about, People have actually been listing the most talked about NHL players here. McDavid? Really? Seguin? Wheeler? Wheeler gets brought up on this board in every thread about top player, top scorers, top forwards, top wingers, etc. He is one of the focuses of every opposition teams broadcast along with one or two others on the Jets.

If you have interest in the NHL at all you will see countless things about the stars of the game whether they are up and coming like Charlie McAvoy, just entering their prime like Slavin or Seth Jones, a veteren like Seguin, or a player who will likely be entering the later stages of their career like Blake Wheeler. There are countless articles about these guys, opposition broadcasts focus on them every single game. These are very good players but their days of not being talked about are over and in some cases never existed.
