Thorburn. If he gets claimed, great. If not, he can play in San Antonio along with Nolan and protect our prospects.

Yeah, no chance that Scherbak gets waived. Nor Peca. I can see McCarron, Froese, Rychel, Deslauriers, and some combo of Oulette/Lernout/Benn/Schlemko/Reilly placed on waivers to be sent down to Laval.

I agree with
Froese, Rychel, McCarron for F
Ouellet, Lernout, Benn, Schlemko for D

Pretty much in that order. Scherbak, Peca are safe Deslauriers pretty much too imo. I'd sure waive those D over Reilly.

For the Kings it's all dependent on how the d shakes out but some combination of these guys are fighting for the Kings final two d spots. LaDue, MacDermid, Brickley, Fantenberg. Brickley is waiver exempt so I figure hes sent to Ontario and LaDue and MacDermid make the roster and Fantenberg gets waived.

As for forwards, maybe Thompson gets waived if a kid has an impressive camp.

Hawks wouldnt exactly "waive" Forsberg, but likely will have to expose him to waivers when they send him down to Rockford if Crawford is ready to go at the start of the season.

From the Blues, it depends on if both Gunnarsson and Bouwmeester are back healthy. If they are, I can see us carrying 13 forward/8D. That would leave the following exposed

One of Chris Thorburn or Oskar Sundqvist
Jordan Nolan
Tyler Wotherspoon
Joey LeLeggia
Brian Flynn
Jordan Binnington
Chris Butler.

Have at it rest of the league. Only guys I'd miss are Sundqvist, Binnington and Butler because they are good for the AHL team, but I don't want any of them in the NHL. Maybe Sundqvist in the NHL as a 4th line/PK specialist if he can find any offensive upside (10-15 point guy is all I ask).

You can take Mcbackup out immediately. No chance a guy gets waived after putting up the numbers he did. He's still a backup and I doubt he repeats them but you can't take that chance and look stupid.

What would look stupid is losing a guy who was AHL goalie of the year in his age 24 season for a 35 year old who had 1 great backup season.

Consider that McBackup is a career .909 guy. He had never previously started over 10 games and had a SV% better than .914. Last year was a fluke. This is a situation where I expect Dubas to put his foot down. Sparks could be a good asset, McBackup is not and never will be.

A tweener player from the [your favorite team] that will have short term moderate success on another team, in which the
[your favorite team] fans will lament this move. Then the player will slowly fade into obscurity passing through a few other teams, the minors, and eventually Europe.

Because of injuries to start the year (Weber, Shaw, Byron), I wouldn't imagine the Canadiens would need to put too many guys on waivers. I suspect Froese and McCarron could be two, Ouellet or Lernout on D, and I guess if Lindgren was to have a good camp, there could be a chance Niemi gets put of waivers as well.

Canucks are a mess after July 1st. Without any trades we’d be waiving 2 of Goldobin, Leipsic, Hutton, or Gagner.

Benning reaaaaaaally loves painting himself into corners.
He’s got a lot of 1 way deals and almost all of He young players except for gaudette need to clear waivers.

So, doubt if Aquilini is ok with dumping $3 million gagner or $6 million eriksson to the ahl.

Figured this should have been discussed prior to their July 1 shopping spree. If they need to make room like they have said are they truly prepared to eat the contracts?

Wouldn't Oscar Dansk be a better back-up than Pickard?

Dansk might have had a leg injury in his 4th game Oct30 and it took till Jan24 till they could send him down, nearly 3 months. In the playoffs they prefered Lagace as backup when Subban was injured for a third time.

Pickard is much more proven but Vegas' goalie coach Prior might not support him which is interesting because it seems Prior failed. Vegas was #19 in EVsavepct, nothing to be proud of. Subban, Dansk and Lagace are all on league minimum contracts and they got 36 NHL starts. Very special to do nothing at the trade deadline and go with them into the playoffs. Which other team would have done that?

If they can't stay healthy and groin injuries early in the season are a sign of poor fitness I hope it will become obvious in preseason, still with a chance to go in an other direction but I expect nothing.

McPhee was somewhat similar with some extra July 1 signings that a lot of us weren't expecting. He also went on record saying he wanted to roll with 8D this coming season. These 13 guys should make up the opening night forward roster: Smith, Marchessault, Wild Bill, Stastny, Tuch, Tatar, Carpenter, Nosek, Eakin, Haula, Bellemare, Reaves, Carrier.

This leaves the following players exposed to waivers:
Oscar Lindberg
Daniel Carr
Curtis McKenzie
Brandon Pirri
Griffin Reinhart

So it's pretty much Lindberg and some AHL guys. Unless McPhee decides to go back on his statement and waive Brad Hunt to keep one of those forwards, I'm kinda expecting him to trade Lindberg before the season starts.

Dansk/Lagace will also both get waived, which is what I'm keeping my eye on because I'd really hate to lose Dansk.

I hope I'm wrong and you're right on that regard. But I'm nervous in anticipation of what will be done
