Edmonton
Im not sure why Arizona is on a lot of guys NT list. Warm in winter, fantastic air connections, tons of great restaurants, lots to do, golf is great if your into that, and can live and play in relative anonymity.

Anaheim, Arizona, Florida, Tampa because I like hockey markets....and unless they are winning these are not.
Carolina for the same reason as the other's, as well as there is no way in **** that I would ever do the surge.
St. Louis because I have been in their dressing room, and was with a veteran player's father at the time, and he said their facilities are absolutely the worst he has ever seen in the league(and his son played for 5 different teams) and that they were worse than many WHL teams.
Vancouver because I have grown to hate them since the Bertuzzi/Naslund era and I despise their jerseys.
Montreal because I have been to Montreal, and my marriage couldn't handle that:naughty:
New Jersey because I would never play for a team named the Devils
and last but not least the Flames, because they are the Devil :sarcasm:

I’d put every Canadian city but Vancouver and Toronto on my list. All for different reasons. For American cities it would be places like Columbus, Detroit, Arizona and Carolina.

I know being from Edmonton I’m supposed to love it here but if I had a choice to make millions doing something I loved with the option to pick a city then I’d never step foot in Northern Canada again unless I’m playing in a road game.

They are the only one on my list, simply because I never want to live in a place tarantulas are part of the local wildlife.

Other than that I’d be happy to play anywhere.

No probably Ottawa judging by the poll above, and really it is the absolute last place I’d want to be traded to if you dream about beaches and golf in January. If you dream about winning, then less attractive cities like Winnipeg and Columbus would be on your list.

Not sure what would make Winnipeg a less attractive destination than Edmonton.
In any event the poll above is a reflection of what Oilers fans think. Many of them will pick another city besides Edmonton. Its never going to be about the city for most NHL'ers...it has to be about the winning culture which is close to reality as a unicorn at this point in time.

This team could cure a lot of image issues if it could somehow manage to put together a winning organization. Its only been 15+ years...maybe by 2025 they might have things figured out...then I suspect Edmonton will be a more desirable destination for NHL players.

I agree with this. I think Edmonton as a City doesn't do any favours, but for god's sake Detroit was a powerhouse and favourite destination of players for years, and it's been a hellhole for years (yes, I know the players live outside of Detroit proper, but I still don't think it's exactly a favourable City to live in). Consistent winning, especially around a player like McDavid, would completely change the complexion of how the Oilers are viewed around the league.

Also, I appreciate that by leaving them off the list of choices, you acknowledge that everyone wants to play in Vegas :laugh::laugh:

100%

This is a very very important time for this organization. Edmonton will never be a particularly desirable city but if we think Edmonton is an undesirable place to play now...just imagine how bad the perception will be if (after 15 years of dysfunction) they screw up the opportunity to build around a franchise player.
That would be a black mark on this organization (and city) that will rival the worst organizations in any sport at any time.
It will never be forgotten...ever.

This bumbling organization really really needs to right the ship this time.

You missed Ottawa at 72% right now. But I'm a little surprised Edmonton isn't on top here, haha. I guess we're still fans at the end of the day...
Yep I did miss Ottawa, I even voted for them.

I wouldn't have one, I would be honored to play anywhere

You say that now but after you’ve played in the league for 10 years, started a family and have 40 million in your an account then your opinion would probably change.

To the OP....fantastic thread. I've never liked so many posts in a thread before. Fantastic topic, fantastic conversation.
To those who say Edmonton....shame on you.

Canadian teams + Devils, Islanders, Sabres.

Arizona's close due to potential relocation uncertainty but Gary seems intent on keeping them there.

None. I’d just be thankful that I’m part of the 0.0001% that actually gets to be in the NHL. I don’t care what team I end up playing for.

What about tax implications? Canadian taxes would likely be much higher than US taxes.
