Trevor Moore played well in his call up, but IMO it's not wise to throw away an asset so we can get another 5' 10", 175 lb winger into the line up playing 8 minutes a night.

Trevor Moore is not good enough to beat a $10.2 mil cap player out of the line-up even though his stats in comparison would. ;)

6 games 1-2-3 points >> 19 games 1-2-3 points

we can't assume that. Kapanen is our 3rd best winger, and he was stuck on the 4th line because Babcock didn't give him a chance. Johnsson is our 4th best winger, and he was stuck in the AHL because we didn't give him a chance. Leivo was also one of our better wingers, he didn't get a chance. Dermott is one of our best defensemen, he's not getting a chance. It's really nothing new

Damnit... i hate how this is becoming a truth instead of conjecture.

Marleau should be sitting IMO. Or 4th line.
Brown is a 4th liner
Hyman is an energy guy on bottom 6 who is good enough to play with top 6 only if they are struggling with heavier players.

Moore should be in the lineup.

Babs does indeed have a hardon for keeping aged vets.

Its becoming painful.

Montreal and Buffalo all with young AHL grads and look at where they are - arguably heating up while we are slowing down. All within reach of our stacked team.

Talented youth are learning and have fresh legs. Its paying off with them.

While we keep playing Marleau,Brown, Hyman up the line up.

Last year it was Komorov, Martin.

My worst fear is that this isnt a slump, but the players starting to question the coachs decisions,... because shit... I sure as hell do.

Babcock. Vegas will have a line on his firing date, fairly soon I would imagine. I guess next year.

at least he'll finally play. he'll probably get a look on the 4th line while Brown stinks it up in the top 6, and then get sent down again despite looking great

This guy was getting points and playing his rear end off and they demote him to the minors when you have guys like Brown Gauthier and Lindholm basically useless on the 4th line. I get he is waiver eligible and the others are not but is Holl or Marincin making an impact playing 1 game a month?

Better to have a reserve forward we could plug in once in awhile for a spark than 2 guys who never get to play and never will. I swear the personnel management the last few years with Leivo and now with Moore has been atrocious. Meanwhile you have guys like Bracco and Grundstrom that can play in the NHL burning their entry level deals playing useless mins for the Marlies.

Expansion draft is coming...

yeah ,of course, the kind of 'skill' that belongs in a checking role.
No, the kind of skill that supports star players... the kind of skill that hunts down pucks, battles multiple skaters against the boards and starts the cycle for the skilled players to take over and rack up points. You may not want to believe it, but Hyman is a force out there. The Leafs don't have any other player that can do those things that effectively. He is our best player in those skill sets.

He’s ready for the NHL now. Much like Kapanen was two years ago and Johnsson was last season.

The thing is Babcock is a very, very slow learner.

Kapanen is a much better player today than he was two years ago thanks to his development with the Marlies. Babcock can be frustrating as hell sometimes but developing guys in the minors is something this team does very well.

Seen him hunt down pucks thanks...he gets there but rarely comes up with the puck, then if he does happen to get possession,he can't pass or shoot well enough to be considered a top line player...it's a wasted asset...he's a checker who is best suited for an 'energy line'. JT and Marner were doing fine without him, they don't need that element...hell,he's in the way most of the time and the opposing players ignore him in the O-zone because he isn't a threat to score, thus allowing JT and Marner to be double teamed. There really is nothing to believe in! No other team/coach would have him as a top 6 player!

Not a fan of Babcock because could of won more games if does not play favorites. Can not blame Babcock for Nylander fiasco or what management does. Although, it is horrible hockey to watch when see same errors game in and out. Sometimes the best answer is through the results and not saying the same things. Should just have a bag skate to clear their minds.

The thing is, Hyman is a support player on a top line, not necessarily a top line caliber player. If he combined his work ethic, hitting, grittiness with a great shot, great playmaking and a better touch around the net he would basically be a star forward.
