Understandable since Leafs have Matthews and Tavares, but most teams still take Eichel over MarnerI wouldn't trade Marner for Eichel. Marner brings so much to the table

Pre tavares i think its definitely better to have Matthews Eichel.Understandable since Leafs have Matthews and Tavares, but most teams still take Eichel over Marner
How you can argue Marner and not Aho and Barzal is a bit absurd.I think he still goes 2nd, but Marner is gaining steam. It could change. Arguing Aho and Barzal right now is a bit absurd.

2nd ainec. I see you leaf fans with the “marner is closing in tho” rhetoric
Ah, of course you choose to turn this into an argument over a Leafs player.Of the 20 non-2015 drafts between 2000 and 2020, which 11 would Marner be a 1st overall pick in?
Mentioning Barzal with Aho and Marner is a bit absurd too.
Marner is a winger playing with the best goal scorer in hockey. Let's not pretend for a second Barzal and Aho are the same in that regard. Barzal and Aho have both shown their ability to raise their games in the playoffs too. Something marner has not.No, because he's shown a higher level than those two, and his play so far this year compares favorably to Eichel's best.
That's not true at all. Marner is unquestionably a better player than both.Barzal and Aho have both shown their ability to raise their games in the playoffs too. Something marner has not.
Marner has outscored them during the regular season (and much larger sample size) and has outscored Barzal in the playoffs. Let's also not pretend Marner isn't an all around player. Easily the Leafs most important penalty killer and defensive forward as well as the most creative player on the team. Sure, he plays with Matthews, but he also helped Tavares to his career high 47 goal season the one year he played with him too. When Marner was just 20. If you think Marner is some tag along, then you've clearly never watched him play. He's a very dynamic player who creates a ton of offense.Marner is a winger playing with the best goal scorer in hockey. Let's not pretend for a second Barzal and Aho are the same in that regard. Maybe you should wait for them to crack better that 50 and 51st in the league for points this year before you call it absurd. How you can argue Marner and not Aho and Barzal is a bit absurd.
Or you are carrying your own bags, driving the said elite player to a career year.2nd and the only ones who disagree are Leaf fans
Marner plays with Matthews, and playing with an elite linemate means you're a passenger
What a cherry pick be better.Maybe you should wait for them to crack better that 50 and 51st in the league for points this year before you call it absurd.
If you think playing with Matthews in the leafs system is the same as what Aho and Barzal are doing that's terrific. It's not accurate.Marner has outscored them during the regular season (and much larger sample size) and has outscored Barzal in the playoffs. Let's also not pretend Marner isn't an all around player. Career PPG regular season:
Marner - 1.01 PPG (324 points in 323 games)
Barzal - 0.88 PPG (225 points in 255 games)
Aho - 0.85 PPG (281 points in 331 games)
Career PPG post season:
Aho - 1.04 PPG (24 points in 23 games)
Marner - 0.84 PPG (21 points in 24 games)
Barzal - 0.80 PPG (24 points in 30 games)
No he isn't watch another team than the leafs. That's not true at all. Marner is unquestionably a better player than both.
Nope if the league MVP Leon Draisaitl is a passenger as per the leafs fan base then that means one of Marner/Matthews is a plug. Your choice.Or you are carrying your own bags, driving the said elite player to a career year.
