I find it hard to believe that team doctor's don't monitor athlete's heart extensively to rule out what could potentially be hypertrophic cardiomyopathy leading to cardiac arrest.

Since it's a breathing issue, I doubt it's a heart issue. I was just throwing that out there.

I understand, but this is most certainly a heart issue - not a lung issue. He collapsed because his heart stopped.
