The new deal is why Brees left. He wanted to go do games every week, and NBC wasn’t ready to do that. The problem with guys who aren’t as naturally gifted as Romo evidently was, is that it’s incredibly difficult to be inserted at the top and be good enough for that spot. Aikman worked into that, they did a 3-man booth with Moose for a while, and also did Ravens (oddly enough) preseason games. Brees was perfectly fine for being his first year, but that’s not good enough for what both wanted.
