We don’t actually care. We aren’t even supposed to be here. This is all bonus hockey. Getting beat in the 2nd round then picking 4 in the draft is a pretty great summer for us.

That's the way to go :D The Avs remind me so much of the Oilers in 2006. Had no hope winning against Detroit, the President Trophy winners and contender for the Cup, and Oilers managed to bounce them out. Just enjoy the ride and if you win, great, if not, oh well.

Nah tired of the bull**** incosistent calling of games. Congrats - Avs benefited this time...

I guess you can ignore the blatant hold that brought down Bourque at your blue line and all the other penalties Flames committed as well.

The difference is Avs aren’t diving and complaining to the Refs each play. Tkachuk pretended to get high sticked by Makar and went down on one knee as he was holding Makar’s stick. Maybe the refs are just tired of the Flames being a bunch of pansies?

Calvert's obviously a lot stronger & tougher than any flame, but I don't think he could accidentally take someone's head off even with such soft opposition...
The most shocking things about this whole experience is how many completely ridiculous Calgary fans there are, and how little fans they actually have on these boards.

Their GDT barely hit 30 pages. I was genuinely surprised.

Good luck with the Avs beating a rolling 4-line Vegas team lol. Cocky sob's right now, Avs are....
I mean Calgary fans were mocking the Avs talking about how they don’t stand a chance against the Flames 4 line team.

I don’t expect Colorado to beat Vegas. Hell it isn’t a given that they’ll beat Calgary. But at some point somebody has to give the the Avs depth some credit for delivering so far in these playoffs.

Both conference one seeds out in the first round. Insane.

I think heard this morning it will be the first time ever this has happened.

Eh, there's a few of these, but I've interacted with many more reasonable calgary fans during this series :dunno:

To be fair this is pretty much exactly what they told us about the Flames before this series. No way the Avs would be able to keep up with Calgary's depth.

I don't expect much from the Avs to go deep at all, the mission was to do some damage in the postseason if they get one more win and knock out the top team in the west mission accomplished. Everything else is gravy.

The Avs, IMO, are still exiting their rebuild.

Let's be real. I don't think anyone but Sea Eagles thought we had a chance of winning even 1 series after the TDL came & went with Brassard our only acquisition. Just getting back to the playoffs in back-to-back years would've left most of us happy with the season.

He fell mighty easily didn't he? Smart man... ref's weren't going to miss that one! (but missed a blatant high stick that was more like trying to take the guy's head off) ... unreal.

Just like Tkachuk really sold that high stick that didn’t even touch him on Monday?

Yah, the Avalanche didn't really even deserve to make the playoffs lol we had a complete collapse, that took an unreal streak, and a lot of help from other teams to climb out of.

This is all bonus. Obviously I want us to be successful, but we're likely to make the second round, and at least play 4 more games.

I actually have a little bit of optimism when it comes to our chances against LV.

MacKinnon and Co can surprise any team in this league.

If we don't win, then who cares lol next year will be huge for us.

Oh so now high-sticking doesn't count if it's an OOPSY? Didn't know they changed the rule! So players, listen up, YOU DON"T HAVE TO BE IN CONTROL OF YOUR STICK ANYMORE!

I can't believe Avs fans are excusing the horrible reffing going on!!
You just tried to claim he was trying to take his head off

Want to demonstrate how contrived your whining is more?

You are just the classic example of a sports fan that stakes pride on their team’s success, but cant own up to it when failure comes. So you just grasp onto any excuse you can think of.

Obviously any fan thinking the refs have played a hand in this series are not thinking clearly, Colorado has dominated every stat except face offs so far. As amazing as their advanced stats are in this series, I think the eye test is even more in Colorado’s favour, if not for Smith Colorado should’ve had 15+ goals the last three games very easily.

The biggest problem with Calgary is they just give up the neutral zone allowing the Avs to gain momentum and enter the zone with speed. I feel like every fan can see this but Peters hasn’t adjusted to a heavy trap yet which is what Calgary needs to do. Calgary doesn’t have talent like Colorado does, trying to play back and fourth hockey is blowing up in their face every night but he’s made no adjustments. They need to slow the games to a halt and hope to get some fortunate bounces on the counter attack.

I think that two month black hole in December and January caused a lot of people to overlook what the Avs are capable of. The Avs were at the top of the standings at the end of November and they were one of the hottest teams at the end of the year coming into the playoffs. If our goaltenders didn't forget how to play hockey for two months this matchup never would have happened.

This makes me jealous of Avs fans. Gravy playoffs and a top 5 pick this summer. I think part of our collapse is the high expectations they have placed on themselves. People forget that a lot of people didnt have us making the playoffs at the start of the year.

Avs fans need to learn to win with a little more class. You guys are pulling a Panarin right now. I seriously just read a full page of utter gloating & kicking us when we're down.
Try walking away, you're the team that's up 3-1. Ofcourse Flames fans are sour.

Yeah anybody blaming Gaudreau is just stat whacking because Avs had last change at home and has put EJ out there every time. Johnson though isn't as fast as he used to be is just shadowing Johnny wherever he goes and like half of his hits on him are on the borderline of being late. However, he's finishing every cheque on him and that is more due to Bednar's tactics than Gaudreau going into "invisible" mode. Additionally, not one Avs forward is allowing him to come through the neutral zone with speed, everyone is putting sticks all over him.

This of course is making space for Monahan who doing jack**** with it. If you want to blame somebody who is responsible for letting the Flames down the most, blame this PP specialist. Secondly, Brodie is getting destroyed by MacKinnon's particle disintegration weaponry, but Giordano has been a joke for the Flames. Defencively he's been okay, but offencively when they need a big play from their future-Norris trophy winner he looks as bad and as slow as Jack Johnson does.

Third, oh my does Backlund look terrible. All these Flamers can whine about refs especially the influx of burner accounts we're getting from Calgary Puck, but Flames are putting themselves in really dumb positions which are leading to penalties. I don't care if they're weak calls or not, if you put your stick parallel to the ice you're asking for trouble. Likewise with Backlund's penalty on Landeskog yesterday, it might've not been a strong call, but he put his stick in a vulnerable area at Gabe's skates and tripped him. Calling it biased is hilarious and just shows you lots frustration more than being correct. But we're not done with Backlund, he then proceeds to puck watch Yeti and backs off too much from Mikko not only finding himself in no man's land, but screening Smith on the gamewinner.

Yikes.

There'd be more class if Flames weren't blaming the refs as the sole reason for them being down 3-1 in the series. It's not like their top players are a no-show or anything but yeah let's blame the zebras.
