This is bad news especially as the injury occurred in the same game as his two goal performance, but trying to look on the bright side:

-Maybe they play a little harder to compensate for the loss.
-6 weeks of rest for Simmonds.
-Joe Thornton is out 4 weeks January 20, which was 18 days ago, so he could be back in a minimum of 10 days?
-Sam Bennett available.

If he were to miss the next 6 weeks, that would be 20 games:

4 Calgary
3 Edmondon
3 Montreal
4 Ottawa
3 Vancouver
3 Winnipeg

f***ing injuries this season. What a piss off. Our depth scoring is getting taken out every other game.

That really sucks, he was turning back the clock and having that net front presence on the PP was great. Such shit luck too, that's Thornton and Simmonds on 1 in a million goes wrong kind of plays.

Why are people pushing for a trade?

We have depth, use it!

Soup should get to play with JT and willy for now, he needs to find his flow.

Promote the players playing hard and fill in the spots below with depth.

Robertson: Awkward collision on a hit, out weeks.

Thornton: Takes a hit while standing, out weeks.

Campbell: Stretches his leg weird, out weeks.

Dermott: Tries to dodge a hit but doesn’t, out for who knows long.

Simmonds: Puck off the hand, out weeks.

I can’t believe this nonsense. Aside from Dermott (as far as we know) how has every freak injury this season been worst case scenario in terms of prognosis?

That's just brutal. Damn. Is agostino a rugged player? We need that element.
He doesn't seem to get a sniff for whatever reason. Best bet to bridge the gap in house would be Joey Anderson. But Simmonds is one of a kind as far as net front, toughness, vocal leadership... not easily replaced in our lineup at all. But a hard forechecker, Anderson is probably the closest bet we have in house and healthy

Ah shit, wonder if it's a boxer's fracture.. The bone in his hand that is on the outside connecting with the pinky.

I broke that bone is a similar fashion a decade ago and it was the same sort of recovery

Looks like it, they were showing on the replay of the trainer spraying the numbing mist on that area of his palm...a deep bruise shown through on TV, but it's clearly worse than it first appeared.

This sucks, need someone else to step up...will definitely miss his grit for the next 1.5 months.

It's been reported we were looking at trade options before this happened.

This might be what pushes the move to happen

Calm down guys.

Injuries to three 3rd/4th/extra line wingers, a bottom pair dman, and a backup goalie is a pretty light load injury wise.
