It's not right on the monorail, but the Bellagio-Monte Carlo monorail line pretty much dumps you right at the park as soon as you walk out of the Monte Carlo.
That's where I park.

Hey guys! Leafs fan here. I'm coming down for a game in October when Vegas faces Buffalo (my buddy is a sabres fan), is the Luxar Hotel pretty good to stay at? I know its pretty close to the arena.
I guess you can say I'm a closet Golden Knights fan haha, I'm from London and have season tickets to the London Knights so I know to cheer for any team that has a resemblance to our team in London!
Luxor is nice, older, but nice.
Depending on what you want to do, it can also be convienent to be on the south end of the strip --- easier to navigate.
As an older guy who isn't looking to party or be seen, is Downtown or Fremont Street that much of a worse place to stay than being on the Strip? It seems like even from there, the bus would get me to TMo Arena fairly easily.

If you're coming for a game, I'd suggest just staying at the Rio, The Orleans or any off strip "locals" type of casino. Downtown is just as party as the strip, but I think it's easier to do some things there rather than the strip.
Thanks for the tip on the Orleans. That looks like my type of place with the bowling and the gambling and such. Plus not too far away from the rink.
Thanks again!
Here's what I tell everyone.
Go in this order as you look for places: West, South, Northwest. Stay around or outside of 215. Don't go anywhere with a North Las Vegas address or anywhere east.
You'll be fine.
$950 is probably the sweet spot if you're looking for a 1BR, anything larger will be higher in a decent neighborhood.
Summerlin and South Henderson are where you want to be, but since you're apparently working on the north side you might take a look at Centennial Hills. Centennial is nice, but it's kind of mish-mash and you get some weirdness among the niceness.
Thanks for the info, as far as Summerlin goes are there any places bordering Summerlin that are good or bad? Any side or part of Summerlin that is preferable?
Is the west of Durango you're talking about N Durango Dr.? And by around or outside of 215 does that mean stay to the west of it or just be around it in general?

Just around it in general, IMO. You'll want to be south of it in Henderson.
All the streets here pretty much go from one side to the other, so Durango is my dividing line for the entire city for the most part, you can go east of Durango on the south side, but I'd stay south of the 215 if you do.
Like I said, if you're working in North Las Vegas, Summerlin and Centennial Hills are your best bet, but the commute isn't going to be horrendous from anywhere. Las Vegas is a fairly dense city and you can usually get from one side to the other in less than 40 minutes if you know what you're doing, even during the high traffic times.
I'm a little harder on the north side than most people, but that's only because I lived there, left, and realized how much nicer it can be in other parts of town.
There are some places in NLV such as Aliante that aren't bad. The nice part of NLV moved north.
I was told getting from Henerson to the top of north las vegas would take 40 mins without traffic and an hour and half with in rush hour, true?

I would try to stay out of Henderson for that reason. Knowing the general area you are moving to, it is a long drive from Henderson.
Back before everyone was charging for parking the south strip was the place to be. Get your car and drive everywhere. Now, I think you want your hotel more centrally located for walking to avoid parking, or you get your conditioning up for some hard core walking.
