Not sure why everyones up in arms for a 3rd liner(that can play 2nd line at times) getting just over 3 mill. Lots of 3rd liners make this with similar numbers.
When the team is already in cap hell and their 2 most important pieces are unsigned for next season and due huge raises - you don't see the issue??

Beagle and ferland will be on LTIR next year and rousell is a UFA. Yeah Loui sucks but just one year leaft
No guarantees either is on LTIR next season and Rousell still has another year because of the brutal deal Benning signed him to 3 seasons ago.

When you can lock up a replaceable 3rd line piece right before you have to go into negotiations with your two most prized assets, you just have to do it. Have fun bridging them right to their arb years.

Roussel is a UFA
Beagle they are saying will most likely be on LTIR next season with ferland. We aint re-signing edler with trymakin returning.
NO HE ISN'T - writing it 5 times doesn't make it true. There is no credible source saying Beagle is going on LTIR, it was speculation by Vancouver radio personalities that got wind Pearson might be extended and they wondered if there was new cap space somehow.

Can you believe there are multiple posters in the Canucks section that push back against Benning criticism?

Sry if i think its a fair contract which i will say again for a 28 yr old 3rd liner that can play on the 2nd line at times at 3 mill isnt the end of the world jfc

It's not god awful but you do realize this basically means Pearson will be glued to Horvat all of next season?

They won't have cap space to add anyone better.

Not necessarily. If podz plays better than pearson he can easily join the second line.

$17 Million dollars of cap space with 12 players signed.
Pettersson - Comparable contract Barzal $7 x 3yrs
Hughes - Comparable contract Chabot $8 x 8 or Ekblad $7.5 x 8
Say the Canucks can get both signed for a combined $14 million, that leaves $3million to fill out the rest of the roster. For a 21 person roster that would mean the Canucks need 7 additional players. At league minimum $700k x 7 players you need $4.9 million. That's nearly $2million over the cap with half the roster on league minimum deals - in other words not realistic. If you wrongly assume everyone is a UFA next year maybe the math works for you?

How does one team physically support that much cap deadweight and not be bottom 5 in the league? Pretty sure that's enough dough for McDavid Drasaitl and Doughty with change left over

Also at one point Gagner, Schaller, Sbisa and Gudbranson lel
