I know it's not nearly as important since we're talking the 12th-15th spots on the roster, but Gillespie continues to look like a mess following his awful summer league showing.

The only thing that might save his job at this point is that the team is potentially starting the season without Boucher and that would leave them thin in terms of bigs.
i dont even that saves him, hes prob got more personal fouls than points through summer league and preseason so far. i would rather give his spot to ish honestly

barnes is gonna be a triple double machine, could have had 12 - 13 assists tonight while not being the primary ball handler. far and away the best distributer on this team already..kinda crazy

Barnes has definitely looked better than advertised so far. He impacts every facet of the game, and if he develops a consistent outside jumper, look out...

Barnes definitely has all-star potential, just needs to work on the shooting & everything else will fall in place

Yeah, I'm not liking how he has been used at the 5 at times. That's the wrong position to play him at. This guy is a natural PG with crazy passing ability. He needs to have the ball in his hands more. At worst he should be played in a point forward type of role.

Does that mean the patented James Harden "jump into the guy in front of you and flop after you shoot" technique is officially banned?

It should. It should also mean that Harden's secondary move of "kick the defender in the chest mid-jumper and get free throws from it" is banned too.

It's about damn time. If the offensive player is the one initiating contact it shouldn't be a foul on the defender (so long as he's not doing something illegal like a floating pick or holding his arms over the guy's shooting path with zero attempt to go after the ball)

Great photo of the 3 Leafs at the game. Engvall is so tall that he looks as if he could suit up for the Raps.

Guess the Beard will have to relearn how to play basketball like everyone else. Then again, I bet they see him struggling with this and start giving him more leeway...

I think Nick gave us a pretty good idea of who is in and out with his minutes distributions.

The biggest surprises for me is that it looks like Champagnie and Banton are legit part of his team.

The one guy in the top 15 there that might have played his way out of a spot is Gillespie. They might try and see if Ish can handle the 5 spot defensively in his place but I wouldn't be surprised to see us add another C from outside the org before the season starts to take Gillespie spot.

I would guess Dekker and Ish stick around due to injuries but beyond that they're going to have to hope Champagnie and Banton need more work in the G league.

Champagnie and Banton both need to spend part of the season in the G league but both have potential, especially Banton. Banton is very raw but you can see the potential to be a contributing player. He's made some amazing passes and defensive plays, but he's not ready to play a major role. He needs experience and to improve his shooting (even more than Barnes).

A lot of people expect Bonga to stick around. I don't understand why - I've hardly seen anything from him, and the things he does bring a bunch of guys on the team do better. I've seen the argument he's only 21 and a 'Raptor' type player, but I just don't see a NBA player there. I'd prefer Dekker or Ish because they can bring some skills the team is generally lacking. Ultimately we're talking about guys who likely won't play much so I don't have strong feelings about it. Just like Brooks vs Amadio. (At least I hope we aren't depending on Bonga or Amadio to be a major player on their respective teams!)

I think the roster and minutes are going to be very fluid this season. Especially if some of the young guys really show something. Barnes looks like he's well ahead of where I thought he'd be and my brief disappointment at choosing him over Suggs is long gone. If Barnes becomes an average shooter I think he's going to be a very good player. Imagine that he ultimately becomes even a little above average.
