Just keep him and Goodrow in a bubble until the playoffs. Both will be very good 4th liners and very good pk
I thought Gauthier did an okay job but Motte is better suited to what we need.

Gauthier doesn't fill any roles on the 4th.
Motte is a much better energy/forechecker and can PK.

Not sure how I feel about this. Motte was good in a 4th line role last year, but Gauthier definitely created offense in ways that were not often seen from 4th line players on this team. Problem is Blais and Leschyshyn were black holes offensively and that always hindered Goat this year IMO.
Would have liked to see how Goat did without an anvil on his line, then I think I'd be able to assess this trade better.

Happy with the move and to get Motte back. Gauthier will become a good bottom 6 player in Ottawa where he can get more minutes

Now waive Leschyshyn and bring back Brodz and then you have a good fourth line with a lot of versatility along with Goodrow.

Anyway, it's good to have Motte back and hopefully he can stay healthy for the playoffs.

Yeah I had a soft spot for him. He could have a good year or two a la grabner in the future I'm sure.
I don't know maybe I am a bit optimistic I like seeing some speed injected into the 4th line. Speed we will need come playoff time.

Good luck to Gauthier - at least he's going somewhere where there's a ladder to climb should he excel. And, Motte was very good here last year.

They should have signed Motte...and we could still have Gauthier here.....he will score 20 in Ottawa . Oh well....that is why Drury gets the big bucks to make the Motte-Blais type deals .
